Publisher's summary

Opposites don’t just attract—they ignite—in a flirty against-all-odds romance by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Lauren Landish.

Wyatt Ford hightailed it out of Cold Springs to get away from his influential family and the unwanted privilege that came with it. Returning for his brother’s wedding dredges up every reason he left. One unexpected bright spot: a curvy knockout who slings burgers, hustles pool…and hates the last name Ford.

Hazel Sullivan is fiercely independent and happy to be maid of honor for her best friend’s wedding, but she isn’t looking for romance. Especially not with a man whose family is dividing her town into a battleground with their development plans. Fighting the family is easy. Fighting Wyatt? Not so much. Why does the enemy have to be so drop-dead gorgeous?

The sparks that fly between Hazel and Wyatt might start out as combat, but one kiss and it’s total surrender. How is a happy ever after even possible for two people with so little in common? Except, of course, for an overwhelming attraction and that growing temptation to say “I do” themselves.

Critic reviews

“…romance author Lauren Landish's fun and funny novel [is brought] to life thorough the dual (and dueling) narrative skills of C.J. Bloom and Teddy Hamilton. … pure entertainment…immediate and enduringly popular.”Midwest Book Review

“Landish’s steamy novel begins as a standard wedding-fling romance but develops into an exploration of small-town life, the rising costs of real estate, and navigating family responsibility and personal ethics, all of which anchor a sexy love story featuring a bold heroine who loves a good innuendo and a decent hero who knows that the wrong bridesmaid is the right woman for him.”Library Journal

Couldn’t finish it

Just got tired of language and crudity. Seriously. A little more couth could have really improved this book.

Funny story

This was a great story about a boy named Jed. You will get that joke when you listen to or read the book. But the same town with a major conflict going on make for great moments of laughter.

What. A. Story. I listened to audiobook

This novel is a hilarious story involving a family-owned bar and bakery, a talking and swearing parrot, and tons of wit.
Oh and an order of hierarchy in a town. You know, the usual
Phenomenal job on audio by narrator and an AWESOME job on story by Landish

Sassy and strong female lead

I enjoyed the female lead character development and the relationship built together with her male lead. The villian and the brother struggle is enjoyable but needs more attention. The second lead, Winston and Avery if written with more detail would be an amazing second book but overall, a cute romance novel.

Sweet Story

Sweet, funny, and with a nice touch of spice. Really enjoyed the side characters and the narrations.
As always, Teddy Hamilton is a pleasure to listen to.
