Cameron C. Taylor writes 8 Attributes of Great Achievers, which is the second volume in his Great Achievers series. This book covers many positive traits of leaders and achievers. The content doesn't fill particularly fresh, but it provides a good reminder in a concise format. Benjamin Fife narrates this work, and he gives a compelling performance.
In each chapter, Taylor shares an attribute that will help you become a great achiever. He argues the value of each attribute with character studies of prominent figures, personal examples and opportunities for self-examination. The stories and anecdotes from famous individuals are particularly engaging, and their quotes are peppered throughout the book. Examples include Viktor E. Frankl, Christopher Columbus, John Wooden and James Stockdale. Most of the content is not unique to this book, as it can be learned in basic historical textbooks. Nonetheless, Taylor combines the information in a way that clearly shows the value of each attribute.
Benjamin Fife is an expressive narrator, which makes him a great choice for this book. His narration is clear and precise, and he adds the right amount of emotion to keep things interesting. There were a couple times in this book where the recording would stop or catch, but it didn't detract very much from the overall experience. This content has the potential to sound monotonous and flat, but Fife does a fine job keeping it engaging throughout the three hour and 51 minute run time.
8 Attributes of Great Achievers, Vol. 2 is interesting and inspiring. All eight attributes are positive traits, and Taylor includes enough facts and references to give credibility to each. Some of the chapters seem like a review of common knowledge. Although, when taken as a whole, this book can help motivate one to better themselves. Fife brings the concepts together in a unique way with his solid narration. If you enjoy self-help or historical books, you will likely enjoy this title.
