About this listen
Christmas is coming to the small town of Cherico, Mississippi, and there's no better way to prepare than with the Cherry Cola Book Club's feast of good food, good books - and good people.
Cherico's newlywed librarian, Maura Beth Mayhew, is back from her honeymoon, and she and Jeremy McShay are settling into married life. Maura Beth's father has even given them the down payment on a charming cottage.
But as the holidays approach, Cherico's economy is struggling. Beloved local shops have closed, jobs have been lost, and there's even a mysterious crime spree afoot. Amid the gloom, Maura Beth decides what the community needs is a healthy dose of Christmas cheer - which means a special meeting of the Cherry Cola Book Club....
Along with the delicious potluck offerings everyone has come to expect, Maura Beth has invited members and the public to share their most uplifting stories - and share they do. From poignant stories of grief and renewal to joyful stories of love and new life, Cherico's residents infuse the gathering with so much hope and courage, they just might inspire a culprit's confession and conjure a holiday miracle that could save the town - and Christmas.

Story
In a small town in Mississippi, a young, upbeat librarian has been given an ultimatum: increase the library’s circulation dramatically or close its doors. Maura doesn’t just start a book club; she gets involved in unique and unexpected ways with her patrons. She entertains and advises, she has potluck dinners, and life in the town begins to imitate art. The patrons begin to relate their own lives to the work of writers like Margaret Mitchell and Harper Lee. In moving and personal ways, Maura helps them deal with such subjects as long-lost love and a brush with death.

Story
Everyone is talking about Jennie Sue Baker and the mess she made of her life in New York. The former high school queen bee - and wealthy darling of Bloom, Texas - has returned home after all these years, riding on a common bus and bearing two bounced alimony checks. In a town that thrives on gossip, Jennie’s fall from grace has shamed her mother, set the town buzzing, and caused old, jealous enemies to whisper in delight. They say she’s taken a job as a housekeeper, gotten a garage apartment, and might be crushing on Rick Lawson, a simple farmer with modest dreams.

A satisfying tale of honor, chance, and star-crossed love infused with Southern wit, grace, and charm - the story of two old Southern families. The Langleys have more money than the Morgan Stanley Bank. And they think they have more class. The Barrett family made their 19th-century fortune in a less distinguished manner: corner grocery stores and liquor stores.
