Critic reviews

"Informed by the riches of the Christian tradition and shaped...by Gaillardetz's own experience of marital commitment and family life, this insightful exercise in the theology of marriage is shot through with earthly spiritual wisdom." (Dr. Michael Downey, Professor of Systematic Theology and Spirituality, St. John's Seminary, Camarillo, Calif.)
"[O]ne of the best books on Christian marriage I have ever read. It is a wonderful synthesis of theological understanding and practical experience--astute, wise and easy to read." (Sidney Callahan, Ph.D., psychologist and columnist for Commonweal)
"The best teachers I've had are the ones who are able to put names and labels to ideas I know but cannot readily express. This is just what Rick Gaillardetz has done in A Daring Promise." (Leif Kehrwald, author of Marriage and the Spirituality of Intimacy)

Book tackling theology not practical issues

What would have made A Daring Promise better?

It has an attracting title that lured me to listen to it but can't finish the first two chapters. It is heavily catholic, with a lot of contents a non catholic christian doesn't relate to. And it is very theoretical, nothing really practical. This book is just not for readers like me. I wish it could make it clearer.

What was most disappointing about Richard R. Gaillardetz’s story?

It is for those men that want to discuss about marriage issue as an academic topic, not for women who wants practical help to improve their marriage.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, but since the content is really dull already, having a male narrator doesn't help it.
