About this listen

Things are never so bad they can’t get worse. For the Brightstars, they just did. Dirck Brightstar knows his family is in serious trouble. If his father doesn’t finish building the heat exchanger before Opposition’s heat sets in, they’ll all perish. Then what little money they have will be confiscated and his father hauled off to prison in a midnight raid. And it all started because his missing sister, Creena, couldn’t follow the rules.

Unaware of the chaos left in her wake, Creena only wants to get back home. The planet where she hopes to find assistance complicates her situation instead, stranding her on a backward world where evil forces find her wherever she goes. Can this family survive long enough to ever be together again?

The second book in a saga

The Dark of endless days picks up right where the first book left off, but the tone and feel of this book is different from the first.

The first book was very much about space. This book takes place on planets. The Brightstars are still homesteading on (I can't spell it because it was in audio) and they are having a hard time of it too.

And Krenna is still on her own. only now she's on her own on 1970s Earth. I loved the fact that the military was kind of neutral, they did take the ship, but hey they didn't lock up a teenage girl and run experiments on her.

I really loved the family she finds on Earth. They are obviously Christian and seem to accept her otherworldliness to n stride which I found interesting.

T.W. Ashworth returns as narrator bringing back his vocal talent as each character continues to have their own voice.

I'll never get tired of this series!

I love this series! Marcha Fox has a way of putting the reader into the moment with her colorful imagination and impeccable talent. The Brightstar family is on Cyraria, a planet being colonized. It's hot and horrible and to make things worse Laren is taken and imprisoned leaving his family on their own to survive. Meanwhile rebel teen Creena is stuck on Earth; a planet with outdated technology who know little about life outside their planet. She just wants to get home to her family unknowing of what Cyraria is really like.
Each word, each sentence builds the plot and the suspense! The characters are vivid and alive and the world(s) Marcha creates are realistic and believable. The narrator T.W. Ashworth does a great job with the characters and pacing of the story. It's a must for anyone who loves a great sci-fi story!
