About this listen

Who controls reality? And how? Ask the timedivers who ride the paths of time, manipulate cultures, lift and cast down civilizations in their corner of the galaxy. They are the Temporal Guard at Quest, the single city of the Immortals of Query, that hidden planet circling a very ordinary yellow sun in a very ordinary galaxy. This is the story of the timediver Loki, and of the unending war for control of reality in that galaxy.

Good book.

Within this story there is a minor character. His name is Doctor Oddaffection. If you understand the reference, then we are friends.

Repeating a great Book

I’ve been reading his books for years. He has not lost a step. Worlds so well crafted, you feel you can dive into the pool of words. Not coming up for air until you finish the last chapter.

Don't read that blurb up there

Listing to a book with a lot of history with me, I first read #TheTimeGod by #lemodesittjr around 1984, I think under a different title, #thefiresofparatime , borrowed it from the library and the plot stuck to my brain but I had forgotten the author and the title, just a story in my brain, then I read #themagicofrecluce and one book after another in the series and I was following his work. The Timegod was reprinted and I read that and realized that it was the same story that I had been thinking about for years.

In August, it came out in Audible and I picked it up for a 4th reading in another medium. The protagonist is Loki and this book shaped what I thought about Loki for my entire life, there is a planet with people who can time travel, they're basically parasites who skim off the cream of civilization, if something challenges them, they end the civilization, they seed ideas and come back for the final product whenever it pops up. Their own civilization is supported by a small group of time guards. Loki realizes that what they're doing isn't right and things get epic.

This book takes myth and puts an entirely different spin on it. L.E. Modesett's books are always thoughtful and is a good voice of reason in a chaotic world. If you're a heavy reader, you can see parts of this book scattered across the SciFi and Fantasy sphere and probably like me before picking it up the second time, they don't even realize that they picked it up here. Also, Audible has the totally wrong blurb up for the book.

Excellent story

Excellent story and narration, it was easy to get grabbed into the complexities of the story.

Convoluted story

The Timegod is a convoluted and confusing story. The author tries to introduce too many different ideas and characters at once, and it's hard to keep track of everything. The plot is also very slow-moving, and there's not much excitement or action.

One of the biggest problems with the book is that the author doesn't do a good job of explaining the time travel rules. It's not clear how or why time travel works in this world, and the author seems to make up the rules as he goes along. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow the story and to understand what's happening.

Another problem with the book is that the characters are not very well-developed. The protagonist, Loki, is a bland and uninteresting character. He's also very overpowered, and he doesn't face any real challenges. The other characters in the book are also quite flat and underdeveloped.

Overall, The Timegod is a disappointing and frustrating read. The story is convoluted, the plot is slow-moving, and the characters are underdeveloped. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
