About this listen
Dan Hendricks is a man in need of a lifeline. A former CIA operative, he is now an agent for hire by foreign powers on the hunt for dangerous fugitives. It's a lethal world at the best of times, and Dan knows his number is almost up. His next job could be his last - and his next job is his biggest yet.
The target sounds trackable enough: Jacques Fillon, who gave up his life trying to save a fellow passenger following a bus crash in northern Sweden. But the man was something of an enigma in this rural community, and his death exposes his greatest secret: Jacques Fillon never existed at all.
Dan is tasked with uncovering Fillon's true identity - but can he do so before his own past catches up with him?

Story
Northern Ireland, spring 1981. Hunger strikes, riots, power cuts, a homophobic serial killer with a penchant for opera, and a young woman’s suicide that may yet turn out to be murder: on the surface, the events are unconnected, but then things—and people—aren’t always what they seem. Detective Sergeant Duffy is the man tasked with trying to get to the bottom of it all. It’s no easy job—especially when it turns out that one of the victims was involved in the IRA but was last seen discussing business with someone from the loyalist Ulster Volunteer Force.

Story
Alan Gregory is a clinical psychologist with a thriving practice in Boulder, Colorado. His life begins to unravel when one of his female patients is found in an apparent suicide and the local paper begins printing accusations from an unnamed source of sexual impropriety between the woman and Dr. Gregory. He launches a psychological and personal quest for the truth that rapidly intensifies when more of his patients die untimely deaths, and Gregory suspects not only that the deaths are related but that another one of his patients may be somehow involved. Lacking facts but roused by suspicion and troubled by seemingly random acts of terror around him, Gregory starts to fear for the safety of the people he loves. The question of the inviolability of confidential disclosures made to Gregory by his patients - privileged information - becomes crucial as the psychologist pursues an unsettling romance with Lauren Crowder, a lovely deputy district attorney investigating one of the deaths. Bound to silence, Gregory follows the psychological tracks of someone he fears may be a cunning and disturbed killer, while turning to his enigmatic but supportive partner, Diane Estevez, for counsel, and to his tart-tongued female urologist neighbor for support. The sinister, surprising drama unfolds against Boulder's Rocky Mountain backdrop, in the arresting natural beauty of Aspen, and in the midst of a baroque Halloween costume party in downtown Boulder. Finally, in a lonely mountain lodge enshrouded in menace, the story comes to its breathtaking climax.

He examines every address, as well as the people who are frozen in time on his computer screen. Excellent Story, expertly told
The book is an exciting, action filled story involving the invisible soldiers that defend nations around the world. Then an investigation into a seemingly strange death unveils a huge cover-up. It took an extremely talented narration to capture the action and emotion of A Death in Sweden. Kudos to Will Damron for his entertaining performance.

Much better than I was expecting
Having had a few hours to think about it I guess I would have preferred some of it to turn out slightly different. Overall it was a pretty good action detective story. I don't believe some of the events envisioned could have gone down how they were written, but it's a story and we often don't get, or want, realism in books. I enjoyed it and would listen to another one of his books tomorrow.
Will Damron was really good. Very good pronunciation, like someone who really knows English and bothered to check any he wasn't sure of. If there were any.

Outstanding mystery
I don't write many reviews, but this will always be a favorite. I will listen again with my wife on one of our many road trips to pick up some of the many clues that all come together at the end. Wonderful author and narrator!

A worthy companion for the commute
What did you love best about A Death in Sweden?
The ending. I thought it a was very good way to conclude and tie together the entire story.
What aspect of Will Damron’s performance would you have changed?
I have to say I didn't care for the style. Robotic.
Any additional comments?
It's worth the time... a worthy commuter companion.
