About this listen

He’s entirely the wrong sort of man. That’s what makes him so utterly right.

After a horrific marriage, widow Everleigh Chatterton is cynical and leery of men. She rarely ventures into society, and when she must, she barely speaks to them. Her one regret for refusing to marry again is that she’ll never bear children. As a favor to a friend, she reluctantly agrees to attend a Christmas house-party. Unfortunately, Griffin, Duke of Sheffield is also in attendance. Even though Everleigh has previously snubbed him, she can’t deny her attraction to the confident, darkly handsome duke.

For almost a year, Griffin has searched for the perfect duchess to help care for the orphan he’s taken on. He sets his sights on the exquisite but unapproachable widow after her sweet interactions with the child impress him. Everleigh vows she’s not interested in him or any other man. But Griffin is convinced he can thaw her icy exterior and free the warm, passionate woman lurking behind the arctic facade. Only, as he pursues her, it’s his heart that’s transformed.

Can Everleigh learn to trust and love again? Will Griffin get his Christmas wish and make her his bride? Or, has he underestimated her wounds and fears and be forced to let her go?

This audiobook is part of a series but it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Sweet Romance

I love the patience of Griffin with Everleigh. He allows her the room to decide what she needs out of their relationship. He doesn't push her for a decision but abides by her wishes. The man understands what he wants, but know he needs to let Everleigh come to him. She loves him, but she lives in fear of the past. Her time at the Christmas party shows her that with Griffin she no longer need to fear but let him love her. I loved this audio version and felt like I was at the house party too.

Entertaining read with awesome narration..

Cute story, about Griffin and Everleigh. She had been married before to a pervert and abusive man who, thankfully, died in a robbery, along with his evil son. That left Everleigh a very wealthy widow. And, Griffin who fell in love with her the minute she picked up his daughter but Everleigh was afraid of being controlled and abused AGAIN so she was a little hesitant, even though she had fallen for him too.

Caroline, the biotch, added that one person everyone loves to hate.

Except for Caroline this was a love story with one vanilla sex scene, which was okay with me. There’s nothing worse than a long-drawn-out sex scene in a novella.

As to the narration: I think the biggest reason I liked this novella so much was because Stevie Zimmerman narrated it. Her voices and emotions are outstanding.

Heartfelt!

Collette Cameron has written a wonderful story! This can be enjoyed all year long. Stevie Zimmerman is perfect narrating it! Griffin had brought home with him an adorable little girl from India after both of her parents had passed away. He was so impressed when the little girl took a great liking to Everleigh. Everleigh was not only a widow and beautiful, but she had sworn off of men after her late husband had abused her. At a house party of a friend, the little girl, Griffin and Everleigh each made a Christmas wish. Would they come true? A fun story!

A delightful story

This was such a delightful story. Everleigh had a disastrous first husband, enough to put her off marriage for life. Griffin, the Duke of Sutcliffe was looking for a bride, mainly to take care of his child. I enjoyed their growing relationship and Griffin’s understanding of Everleigh’s doubts and reservations. The teasing by Griffin’s friends was amusing. This is just the story to curl up with on a winter’s afternoon. The narrator used different voices for the characters and on the whole they were very good, however, I found the child’s voice just a little shrill!

Be Still My Heart

Having read this wonderful story, I was anxious to hear it on audible. Stevie Zimmerman did an amazing job with the voices and bringing out the characters and emotions. It brought an entirely different dimension to the senses and made me love this story even more.
Everleigh Chatterton had closed herself off after the death of her abusive husband and his son. I could feel her fear of even being around men, but when her friend asks her to attend her Christmas house party, she reluctantly agrees to go. It is all she can do not to flee back home at the slightest provocation and there is a big one in the name of Caroline. Grrr is all I can say.
Griffin, Duke of Sheffield is there and has been looking for a wife, someone that can be a mother to the litle girl he has adopted. He is attracted to Everleigh but sees no hope since she gives no man the time of day and keeps up her barriers.
One small three year old, who sees Everleigh as "an angel" because of her almost white hair wins the day and begins to help change the emotions of everyone.
I loved Griffin, truly he was the best of men and Everleigh (I love her name) needed love more than anyone.
An amazing combination. Collette Cameron, author extraordinaire and Stevie Zimmerman, remarkable story teller.

Lovely short work for Christmas

First: The incomparable Stevie Zimmerman, 'nuff said. Alright. I really did enjoy this short novella in audio. I shall now be reading the rest of the series based on mention of the other players in the story. You only catch a glimpse, but you can tell there's camaraderie there, my favorite kind of series. The Hero and heroine are Griffin and Everleigh at a Christmas house party given by one of Everleigh's dear friends. Griffin brings with him a child people assume is his by-blow, who escapes her nurse and is found crying and then comforted by Everleigh. Or, as little Sara calls her 'Angel Lady.' Everleigh has some pretty ugly baggage to get rid of before she can be happy again, but Griffin is up to the task helping out with that. And it doesn't hurt that Sara wants Everleigh to be her mama. This is a Christmas story so it isn't high angst, and there's no typical child in peril and in need of rescue. It's just enough drama for the story to reach the HEA without suspending disbelief, and it even has a sweet epilogue. I might have subtracted 1/2 a star for so many character's names I had no connection with, but I didn't have to round up. I knew it was part of a series so I didn't let that pull me out of the story but just one time, then let it go and just enjoyed myself. Recommended holiday listen.

A December with a Duke

I found this to be a very sweet regency romance. A strong female lead who knows what she doesn’t want, and a very romantic gentleman who is willing to give her the space she needs.

This is the first book by Collette Cameron that I have had the pleasure of listening to, and it won’t be the last.

Stevie Zimmerman did a very nice job with the narration and I would not hesitate to listen to more of her narrations.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Wish it was longer

I listen to a lot of audio books and this one has stuck out as one of the good ones. The narrator does a great job and differentiates the characters voices well. The characters seem to have common sense and don't hide things from each other just to prolong a problem. They face their issues and move forward. The only fault I can find with this author is that I wish the books were longer.
