About this listen

Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.

Wedding bells are ringing in the picturesque village of Bunburry with the community coming together in joyful celebration. But the festive atmosphere takes a dark turn when the home of Rakesh Choudhury, the respected owner of Bunburry's popular Indian restaurant, is viciously attacked. As whispers of racism ripple through the tight-knit community, tensions rise. Who could have committed such a heinous act? Is the attack a targeted hate crime, or is something more sinister at play? There is an official police investigation, but amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister believes there are other jealousies and hidden grudges at play. Is he the only one who can uncover the truth?

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series "Piece of Cake". He is also the lead in the BBC series "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries", based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audiobooks to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

This series is really good it's a good story with great characters. The narration is wonderful as well. Well worth the price.

I love this series

I think the title must be a pun for yoga. I love this series, but this particular story was actually pretty bad. I don't want politics and social commentary in my stories. Also, just not a lot of action, suspense or intrigue. Somehow, I just never cared about the characters, the plot or even the villain. Just boring. Still looking forward to the next story though and, hopefully, it won't take nearly as long to get it.

What is the difficult pisition?

I was originally afraid Ms. Marchmont had ended the series with so long after Book 17. I was thrilled when Book 18 came out! I listen to these books, so it was a long wait for the audiobook after that. SO GLAD for it to arrive. Alfie and Emma are happily living together, but someone has it in for their Indian friends. Help solving the crimes comes from unexpected sources, with humor and charm. Delighted #19 is already out there, hoping the audio doesn't take as long this time!

So delightful to return!

Well written. Extremely well read with Parker's remarkable voicing of each character's nuance. Stories are complex with mystery and murder while filled with witty and intriguing human experiences. And complicated love scenarios of course.
Very enjoyable.

MOST ENJOYABLE SERIES! Read in order to follow the thread

This one wasn't as good as the others. The mystery part of the story was a bit lacking. Like another reader said, I listen to cozy mysteries to escape. I'm not fond of storylines that focus on politics, current events or religion. Maybe it's just me, but Marge keeps getting more and more obnoxious, rigid, biased and rude with each book. I cringe every time she opens her mouth. I also think Alfie deserves someone better than Emma, but I might be in the minority on that one LOL. Nathanial Parker did his usual fine job.

A Bit Weak
