A maiden’s self-imposed isolation makes her the seductive prize in a royal battle for power.
A maiden’s self-imposed isolation makes her the seductive prize in a royal battle for power. When Sir Rylan Kempe, Lord of Blaecston, a fierce yet noble warrior-knight locked in a vengeful battle with a royal enemy, comes to claim her and her castle in the name of ultimate revenge, Joanna is intent on defying the commanding knight at every turn.
Yet soon the treachery of kings binds them together in unholy union and soul-deep desire, and Rylan must choose between his consuming love for Joanna and the treacherous game to which he has pledged his life.

Heroine villainized the hero and has constant monologues in her head describing his villainous intentions and than she paraphrases it and starts again and it went on and on.... She ruined the story for me.
Rexanne Becnel can create excellent historical settings and love parts were pretty hot but unfortunately her heroine was too shrewish and unlikable.....
Irritating heroine ruined the story

Any additional comments?
This story was pretty good, however, I didn't like the female character at all...she was a total snot!!! I found it hard to believe that someone who grew up in a convent had so much to argue about and refused to take being told what to do under any circumstances...that part got old. I gave the performance only three stars because her male voices were not very good. They really needed work. Would I recommend this book...I don't think so..there are too many others that are better.Over all this was pretty good...
