Publisher's summary

Defiant Highland beauty Fiona Sinclair is shocked by her brothers’ treachery. To seal a fragile truce, they have traded her hand in marriage to their sworn enemy, a man she has never met, a man she was raised to despise. With no choice but to wed, Fiona makes her own private vow: Though she may sacrifice her freedom, she will never surrender her heart.

Commanded into marriage by the king, Myles Campbell is no more willing than his reluctant bride. Still, she is a rare beauty, passionate enough to warm even the coldest marriage bed. But Myles quickly realizes Fiona Sinclair isn’t some common wench: She has a warrior’s spirit and a fierce pride that only a fool would try to tame. And Myles Campbell is no fool. Their marriage was meant to unite warring clans. They never imagined it would ignite a once-in-a-lifetime love….

Typical Highland Romance...but oh so good!

This was another typical Highland Romance book – a forced marriage by the King between two opposing clans. (Think Never Seduce a Scot). Although this one was predictable at times, it still had some shocking moments. Some I didn’t even see coming.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I think I enjoyed the mystery just as much as the romance. (This is always a plus for me)

If you like Highland Romance books than this one will not disappoint. It has something for everyone; romance, forced marriages, deception, torn alliances, shocking revelations and a happily ever after.

4 Stars!

Great Romance, Great Mystery

Quick plot overview. We open on Fiona Sinclair's wedding day. She has been betrothed to her most hated rival since birth, Myles Campbell. Their clan's have fought over the current King and the rivalry grew worse since the day of Fiona's mothers death. Fiona believes that Myles father murdered her mother.

1/2 way through the book, Fiona has yet to even show a slight defrosting towards her husband. All the while we know some nefarious plot is being set by Fiona's brothers and without Fiona's knowledge.
There are also great secondary characters which could very well translate into their own stories.

I loved the plot twists and the ah ha moments.
Now the narration by Sarah Coomes was FANTASTIC. I loved her Scots accent for both the men and the women.
I especiially loved Fiona's voice, it reminded me of my mom. especially when she's angry and her husband!! LOL
This was a great listen, and well worth the credit.

Good Story with interesting twists

Where does Highland Surrender rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the more intriguing books I have listened to

What was one of the most memorable moments of Highland Surrender?

The revelations between the two families

What does Sarah Coomes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accents. At first it was annoying, but as the story went on I got used to it and it didn't bother me that much. It actually made the story more compelling and entertaining

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Scottish Hatfield and McCoys in an unforgettable battle

Any additional comments?

Not a fan of Scottish novels, wouldn't have read it otherwise. Was a good listen and the plot twists were surprising. If you can tolerate the accents, you should enjoy the story alot.

Loved it!

It was a really good read! The story didn’t drag. I read in a comment before purchasing that the main lead gets forced but that was not the case. I hate adultery which was felt by many of the characters.

Highland Surrender

I think I would like to give this story 3.5 stars, but that is not an option. The narration was excellent. The story was about an arranged marriage between two unwilling participants who eventually fall in love. There are some twists toward the end and it was entertaining. I got this during one of the $4.95 sales so I was not disappointed.

Awesome..

Where does Highland Surrender rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Any additional comments?

However, I might have loved it because I listened and read it at the same time and the narrator was just awesome. The way she did the scottish and french voices was wonderful. I loved Myles from the very beginning but Fiona was a little hard to take until she found out the truth and she did an about-face. Then I liked her a lot too. I absolutely loved Vivi. She was sweet and funny and that french accent was wonderfully done.
I know it's silly to listen and read a novel but it's nice to get up and do something and still listen. Overall, it was a really good book and I would recommend it.
This was truly hot and steamy. Definitly for adult readers

Distrustful clans

The Campbell and Sinclair clans have hated each other for a long time. A wedding of Miles Campbell and Fiona Sinclair was planned to bring the clans together, but the Sinclairbrothers were not sincere and their real plan was to destroy the Campbells.
In the beginning Fiona was over the top hateful and stupid as she fought Miles every step of the way. She was under the belief that Miles father Cedric Sinclair had killed her mother, so she took it out on Miles and Cedric. I just could not understand how Miles could be smitten with her. Her stupidity and fool hardy actions caused so much trouble, including the death of people. I never could warm up to her even after she saw the light - meaning that she finally realized that the Sinclairs, her clan, were the bad people. Because ot my dislike of Fiona, I could not give this book more than 3 stars overall.

You cannot force love.

Would you listen to Highland Surrender again? Why?

Absolutely. I am not usually a Historical Romance fan, however I love listening to a Scotish accent. That is what drew me to this audio. Ms Coomes does a wonderful job and I could listen over and over.

What did you like best about this story?

I did enjoy the battle for love with the virgin bride and the King decreed marriage.

Any additional comments?

A story of feuding clans, political intrigue in old Scotland. The couple battle their attraction with good reason. She feels his father murdered her mother -- the truth is far from that. Learning to come together and find what she has been told her entire life is not so. Great memorable characters.
