About this listen

Once upon a time, a girl named Sophie Drake danced with the fairies in the woods behind her grandparents' Louisiana home. But she closed the door to the fairy world and turned her back on the Fae when they tried to steal her little sister Emily. Fourteen years later, Sophie heads to New York City on a desperate mission. Emily, now an up-and-coming Broadway actress, has gone missing. Only Sophie suspects the Fae. Now Sophie has her work cut out for her. Emily's abduction is part of a larger plot involving the missing Queen of the fairy realm. An upstart fairy is making a bid to assume control of the entire Realm, unite the fairies, and become master over the human world.

To free her sister, Sophie must derail this power scheme and find the true Queen of the Realm. That's a lot for a small-town ballet teacher to tackle, but with the unlikely aid of her sometimes flighty sister, a pair of elderly shopkeepers with a secret, a supremely lazy (but surprisingly knowledgeable) bulldog, and a wounded police detective searching for his own missing person, she just might prevail - if she can force herself to confront her own past and face her true nature.

Shanna Swendson did it again! I loved her Enchanted Inc. series and I've lost count of the number of times I listened to those books. This is another series I can see listening to over and over again. It moves from the beginning and doesn't stop through the whole book. Fascinating, engaging, and light-hearted, I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. Highly recommend if you're at all into the fantasy genre. If you're looking for dark and edge-of-your seat suspenseful though, this isn't for you.

Narrator was fine. Story was good. Just had no trouble stopping and then continuing at a convenient time. Unlike those that you walk around the house listening to. The characters were good, very believable.

A good story ... Just not riveting all the time.

isn't a bad novel, i like autor based of other books though. this one didn't live up to my expectations.. Some places are pointless as a part of the story and boring. For a story with fairies and young sisters its bit gray and tired. there were just one joke! Kind of sad allover rather then thrilling and exciting.

not bad, boring at places, lacks spark and witt

A fresh addition to the stories of the Fae. I like that it's light and full of adventure. This book also has my all-time favorite "wake the damsel" kiss!

The narrator does an excellent job. After each listening session I found myself hearing "Sophie's" voice in my head as I'd read other things. Very well done.

Loved it!

The book was pleasant enough. I liked the rules of magic, and the opposing factions within the magical realm felt real. It was a cute, enjoyable read, but the book didn't leave off in too much of a cliffhanger, and I don't have a strong desire to read more.

I think that's partially due to the fact that the characters are father flat. The backdrop is interesting but the characters are all universally one dimensional. Honestly, just a generic "good". The only real difference between any of the main characters is their magical power levels. Otherwise their personalities are literally interchangeable

Fine enough, but won't read sequels

Despite other reviews that the story didn't delve into fae back stories enough, I really enjoyed both the story line and narrator and thought Sophie and her sister made great heroines

Enjoyed through and through
