** I was given a fee copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

I really enjoyed this! Jordan is an ex FBI profiler and now police chief in the town she grew up in...a town where she was the victim of a heinous crime as a little girl...She had followed cases of this type for many years and feels the killer has resurfaced....she was lucky enough to have escaped..and has been haunted her whole life by this event..well this guy has gone serial and she is determined to stop him...Her estranged husband comes to help her and they slowly rekindle there marriage and when he learns what had happened to Jordan...he is also determined to catch this killer with her....well there are many twists and turns and I was guessing the whole time till it was revealed who the bad guy was...and I loved it!!! 2 thumbs up! I wouldn't mind more of Jordan and Sam...they make a good team!!

Could not stop listening!

***I received a copy of this book from narrator of the audio in exchange for an honest review

This book from start to finish was a do not put down! My kids were crazed that I had my headphones on all the time. The storyline of the history of Jordan's childhood all the way to today kept me riveted. The underlying romance and compassion of Sam made the story believable. And the ending was unexpected!!! The narration was wonderful, each character easily recognized and differentiated from the others. Her voice was warm and clear.I recommend this to anyone who loves suspense and romance.

Great

Jordan’s background was tense a nightmare if not more
Thinking going back to the past would help, and heal
Instead the stakes were even higher, her life
She left her husband, a career with the FBI for closure.
Great narration
Given audio for my voluntary review and opinion

Good book

STORY REVIEW......

It's a good story. Worth reading. But to be honest it could have been better. It needed more danger or at least sense of danger. And as obsessed as the killer was supposed to appear to be with her it mostly didn't really come across that way. Plus there didn't really feel like there was a connection established as to why she was so special to him. That being said I did think it was good it just had potential to be better.

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be very good at reading the book as well as giving the characters life and voice.

Well writen mystery thriller

Would you listen to A Familiar Evil again? Why?

Maybe in a situation were I only had access to books that I've already listened to. The book was a good listen, however not one that I'd listen to over again..

What did you like best about this story?

The heroines rapport with Devon, a foster child.

Which scene was your favorite?

The climax where the villain met his fate.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a few moments that were moving such as: when the heroine read her childhood friend's diary, when the heroine gave an eulogy for her childhood friend, when the heroine divulged her childhood trauma to her team and lastly the ending of the book.

Any additional comments?

“I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot come”The book was a well written and performed mystery thriller/romantic suspense novel about a serial rapist/killer. The heroine was the rapist/killer's first victim when she was just a child and the only victim that escaped. The killer has targeted the heroine and everything is now coming full circle. The heroine was a FBI profiler and is now a police chief investigating the killer's latest murders. This novel would make for a good start to a series.

When Evil comes home to roost

In some ways, this seems like a rather formulaic psychopath mystery …and, although there many elements which have become all too familiar in murder mysteries over the past several years, there is much more here, and it is that “much more” that sets this book apart. First, there are the characters. The author crafts them with sensitivity, compassion and makes them real individuals and entirely believable. She then places them in a setting which, though again a fiction stand-by (a fairly small town in North Carolina), has its own personality, and comes to life under her hand. Then, there are the side stories. First, of course, is the story of a marriage in very serious trouble, and while chasing a monster, the protagonists find that they must also deal with their feelings, their marriage, and ultimately their future, which they do, without ever either distracting from the main plot or becoming trite and predictable. There is also the story of the heroine’s childhood and the impact it has on her now, and the story of her relationships with her family and old home friends. All are nicely woven, and the result is a very satisfying read.

The narrator was quite competent, despite the occasional sloppiness of her enunciation. She tended to slur words together occasionally, and reads very rapidly, but I could get used to her pace, and could then concentrate on her excellent qualities. She was excellent, for example, at differentiating characters, and also at giving them the right voice expressions and tones. Angry people *sound* angry, and shy boys *sound* shy and awkward, yet she never overdoes this.

I’d give the book 4 out of 5 stars, and the narrator 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Marvelous, edge of your seat suspense

This a wonderful edge of your seat romantic suspense. Mixed in with the suspense is a wonderful renewal of a marriage. I thought several times I had this figured out but I wasn't even close.

As usual Leonor A Woodworth did a fantastic job at the narration . I know I will be listening to this again.
