The story of Doyle Brunson, an American treasure and the greatest poker player of all time, is one for the ages. It’s a story of guts and glory, of good luck and bad, of triumph and unspeakable tragedy, of courage and grace. He has survived whippings, gun fights, stabbings, mobsters (the real-life ones portrayed in the movie Casino), murderers, and a death sentence when, riddled with incurable cancer, he was given months to live by doctors who told him his hand was played out.

The Poker Stop-It List wasn't written by a mega pro. It was written by a fellow human who just loves (and now crushes) the game. I’m an established author. I created a blog followed by millions, as well as various books. Over the years, my followers never knew that I had a secret life playing poker. I wrote about parenting, relationships, life, introspective topics, and shared lots of opinions and stories. My gift has always been putting complex concepts and human dynamics into words that others connect with and understand. So, why not do it with poker, too?

Story
To be a great poker player you need to stay calm and focused on whatever is happening. Regardless of whether you are playing online or in person, cash poker or tournament poker, it's vitally important to avoid losing control of your emotions. When a player gives in to their emotions they start playing irrationally; this is a state of mind known in the world of poker as ‘"tilt". Tilt describes the state of mind a poker player slides into when their emotions take over their decision-making process and they begin playing based on their feelings rather than on their strategy.

Story
Many poker players can make good decisions at the table with a reasonable frequency. Nevertheless, there are numerous situations where even very experienced players behave in predictable ways. These deeply-ingrained habits lead them to make mistakes. The problem is that these situations won't often arise at the table by chance - you have to make them happen. Exploitative Play in Live Poker is a ground-breaking work that teaches you how to create the circumstances where your opponents will be likely to blunder and how to exploit them when they do.

And no matter how hard they try, they can't get it back. Until now. Story
So, you want to get better at poker? You ask advice and what do people tell you? Probably something along the lines of “just keep working on it and you'll get there.” This is wrong. “Just working on it” will not help you. Randomly analyzing hands, watching poker on TV, or vaguely looking at equity equations won't cut it. The only approach that will work is the right sort of practice based on a relatively new area of psychological investigation - the science of expertise.

Great not only for poker, but life
It's hard to write an honest review because that can mean my edge in poker will be less as more people buy the book, but here I go:
It's the most comprehensive guide on the non-strategic aspects of poker. As poker players we should do everything we can to make better decisions, the increase in that can mean you become a crusher of your game instead of being breakeven or slightly losing. I've already read the book which was great, but listening to it, I realize I've missed so much great content, it's the sign of a great book that you can reread it (I mean relisten ;) ) and get more from it than the first time.
