About this listen

The Poker Stop-It List wasn't written by a mega pro. It was written by a fellow human who just loves (and now crushes) the game. I’m an established author. I created a blog followed by millions, as well as various books.

Over the years, my followers never knew that I had a secret life playing poker. I wrote about parenting, relationships, life, introspective topics, and shared lots of opinions and stories. My gift has always been putting complex concepts and human dynamics into words that others connect with and understand. So, why not do it with poker, too?

Many years ago, the nickname my opponents gave me was “Donkey Dan". I rightfully earned it. I was so bad at the game. I gave away endless money playing hyper-aggressively and having way too much fun.

But...

Losing hurts, especially when you lose repeatedly. I wanted to be a player who didn’t just start to win. I wanted to crush the game, and I dedicated myself to doing so. It took a few years, and a lot of study and self-reflection, but I finally did.

I must have read more than 50 poker books in those days, and in the end...I felt there was one very important book missing. You see, it did not matter how much I learned about the game, I was still somehow a losing player. It was only when I stopped focusing on the things I should do, and started focusing on the things I shouldn’t do, that my game really took off.

That’s what this audiobook is. It’s the audiobook I wish I would have had when I was first studying poker. I would have become a winning player exponentially faster.

Simply put, this audiobook lists the things you need to stop doing. Immediately. Doing that (and understanding why), have the power to take your game to a consistently winning level.

Poker is the hardest game in the world. I believe I was able to put poker concepts (and the human dynamics that go with it) into words that are so much easier to grasp. From one human to another, I hope this audiobook does incredible things for you and your game. Now, go and crush it.

Chicken Soup for the Soul in Poker Books

Dan Pearce provides a great perspective on how one should approach the game of No Limit Holdem. He highlighted many aspects of my game that I really need to work on and even exposed items that were never really considered. This is a must-read if you want to get really serious about improving your No Limit Holdem game.

Great format

Thank you, Dan, for this book. I love the way it is structured. Not the same old this is what you do, but instead this is what you don't do. I have listened to almost every audiobook on poker, but this one is the go to for me when I need quick refresher fixing and reminding me of my leaks. The format is great and stands out because it is different. Presented by you very well. Congratulations!!

Best Book Ever

this is my 37th poker audio book purchased. the other 35 many of them excellent helped me go from losing player to making 2000 to 3000 per month playing about 80 to 100 hours per month. after listening to the book completely passively I realized at least and extra 1000 in the first two weeks.this was accomplished by a combination of bets not made and bet I didn't make before so I went back and actively listened this time writing down each idea and notes.i have only played twice since this a 2 hour and 3 hour session winning 850 and 720 and this after tips and rake. I am over 70 so not the sharpest tool in the shed but I am confident my poker income will be zooming.

Great format!

I love everything practical. This book has a great mix of things you might think you know and things you’d probably never consider. Each item is well nuanced with examples and reasoning to drive the point that you should stop right away!
I’m looking forward to the next 100!

Very informative

I could relate to this author. He seemed to know a lot about what we go through as poker players and also seems to Carr that the book helps. Kind of a dry reading but the content was worth it.

Absolutely loved this book!! A friend and fellow poker enthusiast inadvertently made me read it. We will randomly shout out “STOP IT…… RIGHT AWAY!!” anytime we are playing in tournaments together.

I increased my bankroll

after 3 chapters I started seeing an increase in my winnings. I knew some of it but had a wake up call, or better yet a slap in the face on others. Did I mention it was within the first 3 chapters.
