About this listen

A young governess dreams of life in a castle in this historical romance by best-selling author Marion Chesney.

Lord Percy Hunterdon despaired: He had inherited a Gothic horror of an estate along with a pair of 15-year-old brats to marry off. It was no secret to him that finding husbands for these two vile young ladies would require the utmost expertise: the care of a governess of superior caliber.

When Jean Morrison spied Lord Hunterdon's advertisement, dreams of an unmarried viscount and a magnificent castle danced in her head. She imagined him as Byronic and brooding, pacing the battlements with a black cloak wrapped around his manly shoulders. And naturally he would fall madly in love with her.

Her dreams immediately burst apart at the seams when she saw the dank, dirty Trelawney Castle and encountered for the first time the evil dispositions of her new charges. Still, the golden hair and dancing eyes of her employer conjured up fantasies that were most unseemly for a governess of distinction.

Warmly predictable. Not harmed too much by the errors. Mrs. Beaton doesn’t err in making the story a fun romp to a predictable ending.

Some glaring mistakes, but still a fun read.

It was a pleasant listen, but at the same time , I found it too drawn out and a bit boring. Romance between H and h was lukewarm and too much time was spend on terrible twins.
Ok listen, but definitely not the best

Not much love or romance

Great, mindless entertainment when you want a break from reality. I listen to MC Beaton whilst doing household chores to break up the boredom. This book was entertaining and flowed well. The twin daughters were quite horrid, though.

Light-hearted, easy listen

Story was OK, but disappoin ting as it is written by M.C. Beatton. What ruined it even more was the narrator's voice and style of reading! Horrid!

Horrible narrator
