About this listen

When Alyssa Denham, a single career woman, wins a fun getaway for two on Mackinac Island where her grandmother lives, she gives her carefree best friend a call. Together, they tour the old shops and hidden treasures of the quaint island while helping Alyssa's grandmother piece together an heirloom quilt. Their quest gains them entrance into the homes of many longtime residents of the island, parts of the city that are otherwise off limits to tourists.

As the quilt's story takes shape, Alyssa gains amazing insight into her grandmother's life - and attracts the attention of the handsome Scott Whitman, an island resident in charge of hotel transportation. Will memories of her past keep Alyssa from letting go? Or will the quest to piece together the heirloom quilt restore Alyssa's fractured heart - and bring healing to her entire family?

It’s a good story

It’s a great of story but being from michigan it pains me to say that I wish the narrator would have researched the proper pronunciation for Mackinac Island it’s actually pronounced “mackinaw”. Also replying to Christian the movie somewhere in time is a real movie that was filmed on the island. It started Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour.

Lovely

I sure wish there were more men like Scott out there. Wonderfully compassionate. It would be nice if all healing were this easy.

Christian Contemporary Romance

I'm not familiar with the movie they mentioned and quoted throughout the story, not even sure it's a real movie, but this story was definitely a modern fairytale!
Although I don't feel like the description of this book matched the actual story.
The narrator did a great job, especially with Scott's sultry voice.

Very Enjoyable!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Grand Design to be better than the print version?

Having not read the print version, I can only say that I REALLY enjoyed the audio edition. The narration was clear and the voice was perfectly toned as to allow easy following of the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Alyssa. As the heroine, I felt as if I knew her the best of all the characters. The author skillfully brought this character to life in a perfectly relatable way.

What about Kristin Kalbli’s performance did you like?

I loved how easy her voice was to listen to. The story came alive under her soft cadence, and the plot flowed smoothly with her voice at the helm.

Who was the most memorable character of A Grand Design and why?

Again, I'd have to say Alyssa. While the other characters were diverse and held their own appeal, I identified with Alyssa much more. Her personality is similar to mine, and this created a memorable connection.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this story. The narration was very well done and beautifully brought out the wonderful plot Amber Stockton weaved. I'd love to hear more of Kristin's work as well as Amber's. It was well worth my time!

sweet Story Using Macanack IIsland As A Backdrop

Sweet story told from the perspective of The Grand Hotel in MacAnick Island. With the movie Somewhere In Time playing a staring roll. Alias has come back to Thailand where she spent so many of her summers growing up as the winner of a contest where she meets Scott. A handsome and webinar young man who sweeps her off her feet. But she's hiding a devastating secret she doesn't want to share with anybody. Will this trip be her healing & cleansing adventure?

I liked the quilting mission aspect!

What made the experience of listening to A Grand Design the most enjoyable?

Quilts tell stories of love and loss, hope and faith, tradition and new beginnings. This book covered it well. I was gifted an audible book by the author to review. I really enjoyed the audible version, great voice and kept my interest. I am a quilter and enjoyed the quilting mission idea of this book. I liked that the author shows that God is very much a part of her characters lives.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alyssa’s grandmother, she was quite an interesting lady!
