Publisher's summary

The countdown has begun.

Seven writers have fled to Mirror House, a picturesque mansion by the sea. Each member of the group is running from a terrible premonition of their own death on July 24th. What they don’t know is they were, in fact, prophesizing the end of the world, for on that very day, billions will die from a relentless heatwave triggered by global warming.

While the rest of the world learns of this grisly fate, the writers, oblivious to the coming catastrophe, throw a Halloween party. It will be a very special party, for not only are the flames of Hell destined to be licking at the gates of Mirror House, the denizens of perdition itself will be crashing their party.

Suspense builds

Book two in the series brings us one step closer to finding out what’s in store for our group. As they delve further into the mystery, the group is more determined to find out what fate awaits them. As in book one, the author leaves us wondering as well. Highly recommend.

Great series!

Excellent part two to the series. Getting to know the characters while the clock in the background is ticking and the tension is building. As always, nicely done by the narrator as well. Look forward to number three!

Ouija Boards and Ghosts

The group from first book is back! All of them are authors who have been suffering from nightmares their entire lives. The connection? They all dream that they will die on July 24th of the current year. They have decided to join forces and stay at the home of Conrad Smith. His home, named Mirror House, is reported to be haunted. The thinking is that if they change their environment, they will survive.

They decide to celebrate a Holiday each day and the first celebration is for Halloween. Soon, they start hearing strange noises, seeing things (ghosts?) and experiencing a horrible storm. Then, when they pull out the Ouija board, you know things are going to get bad!

Meanwhile, the world is about to find out that on July 24th, a heat wave of epic proportions will destroy life as we know it. Will anybody survive this fateful day? And, if so, how? This is an entertaining story, full of wonderful characters, plenty of scary moments and lots of thought-provoking ideas.

The narrator, Joe Hempel, is perfect for this book. His pacing and different voices added a lot to my enjoyment. I can't wait to continue this series to see how it ends!
