About this listen

Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind, that the moonlight is playing tricks on your eyes, that it’s only the swirling mist you see. But when you hear the graveyard gate clang shut, the dead have something to say. Here are their stories …

Midnight in the Graveyard

An eclectic lot of "scary" stories, some of which were pretty decent, others left me rolling my eyes.
To me, I don't find monster stories, stories of trolls, most ghost and which stories or shape shifters and the like to be scary. Things that can really happen to people, those are the ones that scare me.
Still for people that are easily frightened this isn't too bad. 👀

Gotta love a Good Ghost story

I loved the compilation of stories here. They were all creepy and held well to the theme of Ghosts In the Graveyard. I thought the narrator got a little monotonous sometimes but it wasn't bothersome enough to pull me from whichever story I was currently listening to. Overall a wonderful collection and worth the listen.

Something for Everyone

If you like random ghost stories you won't be disappointed. Nothing too gory nor gratuities and was comfortable sharing listening on road trips.

Teen/Young Adult Horror Plays Like A TV Show

As I see it, there are two kinds of horror fiction... old school atmospheric horror like M. R. James and modern TV style horror like Stephen King. This is definitely the latter. The descriptive words used are good, but there are no layers of meaning and absolutely no ambiguity. Every ghost is defined with a history and motive. The characters are primarily teens and young adults, and they are all archetypes of "regular people"... the kind of people who are the target audience I suppose. There aren't any specific personalities or unique characters. The horror tends to be overt and gory. "Turn of the Screw" this ain't. It all plays like a Tales From The Crypt episode. Some of them even seem to have places where the story starts and stops again like commercial breaks. This is fine if that's what you're looking for. There are some clever ideas in here. But there isn't a lot of creepiness or unease, just bloody corpses and ghosts wreaking revenge on the living for wrongs done to them. I have to admit... I tend to like old school horror a lot better. But this was fun for what it was.

They can’t all be winners

Truthfully I really only enjoyed 2 of the selections. All others ranged from “…gonna skip the rest of this” to slight above “meh”. Overall this was an enjoyable experience as one who likes horror in short bursts. Most the stories start promising and end a little lack luster or so poorly you’re mad the whole thing wasn’t awful so you could’ve just skipped it.

Interesting short stories

unfortunately, the narrator had a very monotone voice to me. I was hoping for more of an engaged performance.

This book lives up to the hype. There are creepy chills, and moments of dread aplenty!
