Marvin Harvey
About this listen
Marvin Earl Harvey was born on September 26, 1926, to poor sharecropper parents. A Life Worth Living is the story of a depression-era country boy "who done good". It is also the tale of the providence of God and how the great Creator wants to be a part of every life.
Marvin met God at an early age, and this chance meeting in an old one-room Baptist church changed his world. He envisioned a better life for himself and his future family. He had no idea how to accomplish this, but because of his faith as an eight-year-old boy, he fulfilled all of his dreams. It only took two prayers and six miracles.

Story
In one decisive moment, Cameron Townsend understood that God had called him to translate the Bible into the language of his Guatemalan friends. For Cam, the obstacles were small when compared to the growing reward of helping the diverse people of Guatemala, Mexico, and Peru read God's life-changing Word for themselves. Quick on his feet and slow to give up, Cam started Wycliffe Bible Translators with the dream of making the Good News available in every language. Since 1942, Wycliffe has translated Scripture into hundreds of languages, spreading God's Word to people all over the world.

Story
Like thousands of Aboriginal children in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere in the colonized world, Xatsu'll chief Bev Sellars spent part of her childhood as a student in a church-run residential school. These institutions endeavored to "civilize" Native children through Christian teachings; forced separation from family, language, and culture; and strict discipline. In this frank and poignant memoir of her years at St. Joseph's Mission, Sellars breaks her silence about the residential school's lasting effects on her and her family and eloquently articulates her own path to healing.

True Love and Character
Would you listen to A Life Worth Living again? Why?
Yes, it's an uplifting real story, the autobiography of a man who loved his wife, family, community, church, and God. Also, it's better than most stories on the screen today ... !
Who was your favorite character and why?
Marvin Harvey was my favorite character, obviously, since it's his story. I loved how Marvin became a productive adult and escaped poverty to help others.
Have you listened to any of Richard J. Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to all of them, since I AM him ! I have a hard time comparing stories, though, since I love them all equally.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
How to succeed in life without becoming a millionaire ... but instead being known for your faithfulness, honesty, integrity, love, determination ... something everyone can afford!
Any additional comments?
Yes ... this is a good story to listen to when you're traveling or alone in a hotel room. Instead of turning on that television, listen to this story instead, you'll benefit from this true story, but won't get much out of that box (or flat screen).
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
