About this listen

This is the true story of Ora-Jay and Irene Eash, Amish farmers from northwest Montana whose lives changed in an instant when a semi-truck struck the family buggy, killing their two young daughters. After the accident, the couple turned to their Amish community for comfort, but they remained haunted by the thought that they might not see their girls again in heaven. Would their deeds be good enough?

Eventually Ora-Jay and Irene learned that grace - not works - was enough to ensure their place in eternity. But with that knowledge came the realization that they could no longer live in an Amish community that didn't share this precious belief. Could they sever their connection to the Amish family they loved? This is the story of their journey to the hope that is heaven, a hope stronger than the loss of children, family, and a way of life. Fans of Amish fiction will appreciate such a real-life look into the Amish community, co-written by best-selling author Tricia Goyer, and this tale of courage, resilience, and the redemption found in the grace of Jesus will resonate with listeners of all kinds.

Excellent

Would you consider the audio edition of Plain Faith to be better than the print version?

That's a personal choice.

What did you like best about this story?

The shared details of their story. They describe exactly how many walk and feel as they leave cults for truth. I know this personally in my life. They have clear ability to be very transparent.

Any additional comments?

They definitely found truth and the peace that passes all understanding.

A beautiful story

A beautiful story of a couple who loved each other enough to fight for their family and for their growing faith in God! How I admire them and their strength and journey. When there is no one but God and you turn to Him it’s a win win for everyone. Thank you for sharing your story, it is a testimonial for all to read and find their faith as well. So generous of you and your family.

Plain Faith - incredible faith

If you could sum up Plain Faith in three words, what would they be?

Simple, Encouraging, complex

Who was your favorite character and why?

Irene, her infalliable spirit

Which scene was your favorite?

the part where they were living in just the basement and made it work, because less is more, they had more... Than many who live in those new McMansions. They had to work together as a family and a cohesive marital unit and be ONE with God or there is no way it could have worked

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Plain Faith, Simple Faith, Gynormous Faith

Any additional comments?

God uses these two in so many ways, it reminds me of my parents, who also lost children, but they never lost their faith. Plain Faith is such a great book to realize that maybe simple, plain is best! When you have distractions, your mind is distracted form God

Different view of Amish

This was a different view of Amish. It was more educational than a story to read. I enjoyed it.

Interesting story, but slow

I appreciated the "plain faith" of this family, and the title is apt. The story begins with a family tragedy, and their life forever changes as a result. I found the book's descriptions of Amish family life interesting, and learned a lot that I never knew before. However, the second half of the book is very slow and repetitive as it describes the Eash family's ongoing problems with their Amish family and friends after they decide to leave the Amish community and to fellowship with other believers. I also found the narrators to be rather boring in their presentation.
