About this listen

From the authors of the best-selling series Cherringham.

A young poacher is found shot dead in the woods of a grand estate near Mydworth. A sad accident it would seem. But the boy's mother is convinced it is murder and when Harry and Kat investigate, they find the poacher's life was not as innocent as he made out...

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series "Piece of Cake". He is also the lead in the BBC series "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries", based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

What a fun little mystery.

I love everything these authors write. This is a new series of short mysteries which I will follow. The narrator is wonderfully skilled in American and British dialects and moves easily between male and female characters . Enjoyed all of this book.

Good fast paced story

The narrator Nathaniel Parker is wonderful!!
The story is short but worth it. This story should be read after the other ones.

Great Cozy Mystery

Good writing and excellent performance by the narrator. A wonderful example of the genre. Relaxing and interesting. A shame the following books in the series are not available in Audible format. I hope they are soon.

Um, no culprit?

Love this new series, but this one lacked a definitive killer. Likely, yes, but they didn’t actually prove who was the killer. Still a good series— would love to see some prequels to the Mortimers getting together— but this story fell flat for me.

Well done

Mysteries can have a sameness. This story is fresh and has a nice twist to it. And, I love Nathaniel Parker’s narration and voice. He makes the story come alive. Looking forward to more books in the series.

Enthusiastically waiting for many more adventures!

fantastically fun and a great distraction during the opening weeks of state shutdown. Can't wait for the series to continue! These two are a great pair, a twist on Nick & Nora Charles 😀.
