About this listen

In this sexy modern-day fairytale from the New York Times bestselling author of Seven Days in June, a free-spirited florist and an enigmatic musician share a soul mate connection told through the history, art, and the magic of Harlem.

The daughter of a powerful Atlanta dynasty, Ricki Wilde is the opposite of her famous socialite sisters. In her bones, Ricki knows that somewhere, a different, more exciting life awaits her. When she moves into a Harlem brownstone, she leaves behind her family, wealth, and chaotic romantic decisions to realize her dream of opening a flower shop. One evening Ricki encounters a handsome, deeply mysterious stranger who knocks her world off balance in the most unexpected way.

Set against the backdrop of modern Harlem and Renaissance glamour, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is a swoon-worthy love story of two passionate artists drawn to the magic, romance, and opportunity of New York, and whose lives are uniquely and irreversibly linked.

Editorial Review

A love letter to Harlem
In A Love Song for Ricki Wilde, bestselling author Tia Williams unspools an enchanting, time-bending romance where a recent transplant to modern-day Harlem meets a mysterious stranger who changes her world in ways she could have never imagined. Featuring dual narration from Mela Lee and Preston Butler, I fell under the spell of this magical listen that beautifully ties together Black love, Harlem Renaissance history, and the found family who make us whole. In my interview with Tia I asked her about the inspiration for her story, how she picked her narrators, and why she chose Harlem as the setting for Ricki and Ezra’s once-in-a-lifetime love. Read it here. — Audible Editor, Margaret H.

Love that keeps pulling you together

Hands down one of my favorite books of all time now. I will never forget the story, it’s sad heartbreaking, filled with hope and romance and chance all in one. I have to sit with this feeling before I begin my next read. Well done to the narrators

Stunning!

I couldn’t put this one down. It’s a mystery, thriller, and romance novel all in one. It’s fresh, thought provoking and the best novel I’ve picked up this year.

Worth the Wait

I’ve been counting down for this book since reading Seven Days in June and The Perfect Find two years ago! This one, as expected, was beautifully written and is officially on my “best of” list for 2024…and it’s only February! Finished in 2 days. The story, the writing, the narrator, I’m biased because I also love Mela Lee, but it was such a great listen.
The plot went in a completely different direction than I expected, and even centered on a few themes that trigger me, but I still loved it. The best way to describe the story — for me — is if the word ‘enchanted’ was AAVE. It’s a love story with themes and characters and settings and fears that can deeply resonate with anyone, but especially if you are Black and appreciate our culture. Tia has such a way with words. She makes feelings and instincts come to life so eloquently in a uniquely relatable way.
So, if you’re wondering if it will be just as good as her others, it is. :)

Beautifully written!

I literally have no negative thoughts about this book. Seriously… it’s easily one of my favorites EVER! The plot is built up in such a way that you can’t wait for the next chapter. The storyline itself is perfection— from the flashbacks to the magical realism down to the flawless descriptions of the characters love for each other. Even the narration of every character fit effortlessly. Ricki Wilde is such a relatable character; I appreciated being able to see myself in her & watching her become the version of herself that she dreamed of did something so positive to my spirit… Tia Williams has a fan for life!

The beauty of the language

The authors ability to put you in every chapter. Also the twists and turns of the fantasy of the plot. The nod to fashion, the Harlem Renaissance, and history in general.

The way the book gave Harlem/NYCs history while still beautifully relating it back to present times

I loved the story, I wasn’t expecting it to take a “dark turn” or go almost fictional to some. But nonetheless, it was a great read, I found myself picking it up in my free time and feel inspired to start writing because it was so easy to listen to and relate to in some ways. A beautiful love story. And I found myself being so proud of Ricki, and happy that Tuesday, Ezra, and Mrs. Della all found her.
