About this listen

A husband and son abandoned to forge a path alone. A young woman who sacrificed her dreams. How will the God of grace and hope help them find their way? At 19 years old, Old Order Amish Jolene Keim was on the brink of happily-ever-after when everything changed, stealing the future she expected and burdening her with an unbearable decision. For the next 10 years, Jolene throws herself into family life - and then she meets Andy Fisher. The horse trainer and father to a sweet nine-year-old challenges her and holds up a mirror to issues Jolene has been unwilling to face. Andy is cautious about his deepening friendship with Jolene, but he believes she knows the truth about him - that he is a grass widower. As a man whose wife has abandoned him six years past, he is unable to divorce or remarry according to the Amish ways. Andy has wrestled with God concerning his reality, and he had found peace with the solitary future facing him...until he met Jolene. As Andy and Jolene find themselves confronted by difficult choices, will they trust in God's guidance - or will the allure of their deepening friendship only lead to further temptation?

Woodsmall does it again

Cindy Woodsmall is my favorite author of books with an Amish setting. She can really pull on the heart strings and this book is no different. I truly believe she could move away from Amish settings and be just as, if not more, successful than she is now. Her insight into human nature and ability to communicate it is tremendous. I really enjoy the way she can tell stories about good people that happen to be Amish and the good and bad in their lives. I like learning about the Amish way of life. I also enjoy how she brings a Christian way of life into her stories. Enjoy

Absolutely love this!!

Hated for this one to end!! Was hoping for another book about this faith filled family! I’ll certainly look for more books from Cindy and what a better choice for narration than my favorite Kate Forbes!!

Long, carefully built story with an ending worth waiting for

I love the connection with “The Dawn of Christmas” character Andy. I always wondered where he would go from that time.

As I like the style of unusual connections with deepening awareness and the struggles of a restrictive environment. This fulfills my desires. It’s struggles to the end are not artificial. The bridge is laid out from the beginning. And I really like the epilogue when one is given. Well done!

Highly Recommended!

What did you love best about A Love Undone?

The story moved at a good pace, not dragging on and it didn't seem like there was filler to get it to 10 hours long. Obviously, I don't want to spoil this book at all, but the ending was my favorite part. I've read at least 10 books by Cindy Woodsmall and this by far was the best ending. It warmed my heart.

What did you like best about this story?

Again, I loved the ending. The characters were well developed and most were quite likeable, with strong personalities. Also, Ms. Woodsmall tied up all of the loose ends by the end of the book. While many authors leave some secondary relationships hanging in the end (if it's NOT a series). Cindy made sure she tied up the loose ends with other love interests, while too many authors way too often, start secondary relationships but never let you know what happens with those relationships. She wrapped all of the relationships up into a nice, tidy bow,
Well done!

What does Kate Forbes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Kate is a good narrator. I've listened to her once before and will again. The only thing I would have changed was the pacing of her reading. It seemed a bit slow, but maybe that was by the request of the publisher or author. It may also have been a little slow because the author/publisher or producer preferred a slower pace. Kate has a pleasant voice and doesn't go overboard on the acting. Good story telling, just a tad slower. You can pop it up to 1.2 and that helps.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

From sorrow to sunshine.

Any additional comments?

Overall, I would recommend this to Amish book fans. I did enjoy it!

Recommendation

Interesting story line. Narrator might use a less forceful (softer) voice for the female roles.

Wonderful

I enjoyed this book so nerdy much. I have read all her books and she never fails to gather me right into her story. Thank you Cindy.

This is a good clean story that is well worth reading

I really enjoyed reading this book and will read many more like it. It takes you back to a relaxed setting in a more even paced society. I would recommend it to those who would like to get away to a more simpler world. I recommend it to those who enjoy good simple clean reading. I liked this book because it portrays the power of love and of miracles. It also brought to my remembrance that love is timeless and I really needed that in my life right now. I am reading this book while facing the death of my mother, a strong heroine in my life. She is a warrior and I don’t know what I would do without her. But I see how Jolene went on to live her life and I too will live and be strong as this woman did. This was a perfect read at a in life in which I really needed it. Thank you so much Cindy for the reminder of the power of love and hope.
