About this listen

A marriage is tested in this Old Order Amish novel of longing for renewed love and a path for forgiveness from the best-selling author of Gathering the Threads.

Old Order Amish wife and mother Jemima has put her marriage and family ahead of herself for years. She's set herself aside. Raising four children, she's followed all the rules and has been patient in looking forward to her time to chase a dream of her own.

But when she finds out that her life savings for pursuing that dream is gone - and her husband, Roy, has been hiding a child with another woman - her entire world is shattered. Will she be able to listen to God and love Roy's child? With so much at stake, how can she and Roy fix their relationship before their lives come crashing down?

Learning about Amish ways!!

I was expecting a lot better from this author. This book was not among my favorite of Amish books. The family is supposed to be old order but they’re using cell phones and computers like it’s no big deal and there isn’t very much showing that they’re living in an old order lifestyle. Also another couple seems to take center stage in the book besides the ones mentioned in the synopsis. I found this distracted from the story. In the end all loose ends are tied up and things fall together but the book reads as very choppy and there is a lot of arguing so much stuff that I began to feel stressed just reading it. I guess this means the author was doing her job or that they were doing their jobs, but the constant tension in arguing with both of the couples was overwhelming I just was not impressed with how this was done at all. The reader is one that I really like however.

I couldn’t put it down. A great study of acceptance and forgiveness. I enjoyed the way each of the two couples group in their relationships with each other.

The book gave a lot of twists and turns to keep me thoroughly intrigued. There were a lot of emotions to overcome and Cindy Woodsmall as well as Stina Nielsen portrayed them beautifully.
