About this listen

It's been two years since Jessy Lawrence lost her husband in Afghanistan, and she's never fully recovered. Drowning her sorrows didn't help, and neither did the job she'd hoped would give her a sense of purpose. Now trying to rebuild her life, she finds solace in her best friends, fellow military wives who understand what it's like to love - and lose - a man in uniform...and the memory of one stolen night that makes her dream of a second chance at love.

Dalton Smith has known more than his fair share of grief. Since his wife's death, he revels in the solitude of his cattle ranch. But try as he might, he can't stop thinking about the stunning redhead and the reckless, passionate night they shared. He wasn't ready before, but Dalton sees now that Jessy is the only woman who can mend his broken heart. So how will he convince her to take a chance on him?

"Pappano's latest is a touching story about loss, love and acceptance. Tender to the core, her story is filled with heartwarming characters who you can't help but fall in love with, and she tells their stories candidly and poignantly. Amazingly PERFECT

What made the experience of listening to A Love to Call Her Own the most enjoyable?

The characters are so well developed that you forget they're not real people. You get to know them starting from the first book in this series so they are not strangers.

These women are not perfect they're all dealing with getting on with their lives after losing their spouses to the wars and each one has their own way, but the love and support they get/give to each other gets them through another day.

A Love to Call Her Own takes you through the entire process of losing a Military spouse the way it really happens in real life. There are several new characters which gives me hope that there's going to be a lot more of Tallgrass books. Hector Jr is finally here.

If you liked "Army Wife's" You will love this. You definitely should read this series in order. Mrs Pappano is a Military Wife and her experiences and knowledge gives her the insight to make this feel so real. Even non military wives can totally relate.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Love to Call Her Own?

It's very hard if not impossible to pick just one. There are so many that you're just going to have to pick you're own.

Have you listened to any of Loretta Rawlins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

To the best of my memory I believe that book one, "A Hero to Come Home To" was the first time I listened to Ms Rawlins.

She's very easy to listen to and has been added to my list of favorites. She reads similar to Tanya Eby and Therese Plummer

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Definitely. For me it was everything related to the Col. The transfer with dignity made me cry. I've watched several YouTube videos of what happens when a Fallen Hero is brought home and Mrs Pappano makes this seem so real.

Any additional comments?

I strongly that you read "A Family for Christmas" AFTER you read "A Love to Call Her Own" which has the follow up of Llena and Hector Jr's first Christmas.

It's an anthology in "A Christmas to Remember"
