Dated, but still good

The book is a bit dated, typewriters, no cell phones... There is nothing wrong with it, just not what I expected. With that comes some weak points for the character. At the very beginning she said she was proud she had never fainted. I've never fainted either. Woohoo for me. I didn't like some of her previous life choices, and a she made the relationship more difficult because of misconceptions she didn't explain, but I actually felt the romance more in this than I have in most modern books. I liked her although I didn't really want to at the beginning.

nice

The story line was nothing special. Just short and sweet. narrator can't handle female voices or different male voices. He really only has 1 voice.

What an idiotic heroine woman…

Very good plot but this is one of those situations when the main woman is so stupidly idiotic it’s funny! If you like the story with start strong women then it’s not for you.

A total disappointment!

I used my monthly Audible credit to purchase this book. I had read D.P.'s books in the past, so I was familiar with the dynamics of her male and female characters. From the product description and the Audible sample, I got the impression that this book might be more updated, so my interest was piqued. I kept going back to this Audible as a possible credit selection and finally chose it. Unfortunately, the audible sample was the only thing good about the book. The entire story was so ridiculous, even allowing for perhaps a different time period and work climate. I was prepared to temporarily adjust my thinking to fit the typical Pamer male/female interactions, but the stretch was just too much. The female character had been involved with a former boss and the two had been caught by the boss's wife. A year later, and a different job, the female character learns that her former boss has an appointment to discuss possible partnership arrangement with the current boss. She panics at the thought of seeing her former boss and considers quitting her job before the appointment date. The details are revealed to the current boss. He doesn't want to lose a good employee, so he offers to help. His solution: pretend he and she are intimately involved; let her move in with him that same day; immediately begin kissing one another in his office, while making sure the door is partially open and other employees can see and hear what is happening. All this is so that the former boss is more likely to believe that his former paramour has moved on with her life and is under the protection of a powerful attorney. Suffice it to say that the story keeps going down hill all the way to and through the last chapter. What a waste of a membership credit!

Dated story

The characters are dated. I didn’t find out the original copyright, but the male lead smoked and was overly harsh. I skipped to the end.
