Publisher's summary

A cold February morning in Scotland begins with the discovery of a body, as Hector Mathewson is found dead within the cask room of his own distillery.

While directing the hunt for the murderer, DCI Alex Warren needs to balance his own turbulent personal life.

Their plentiful suspects have motives ranging from greed and nationalism to adultery and revenge.

A Measure of Trouble is a gripping tartan noir thriller set in Glasgow. This is a stand-alone mystery and can be enjoyed even if you haven't read or listened to other books in the series.

Knew It Was Murder

Alex got a call a man dead at the distillery, one look and knew it was murder. The motives were many, he planned on selling the family busines, was a womanizer, greed, and maybe even revenge played into this interesting plot. Enjoyable to follow the twists to figure out who, and how Alex and Sandra are doing.

A Murder with Multiple Suspects

In Zach Abrams’ ‘A Measure of Trouble’, DCI Alex Warren is tapped to find the murderer of Hector Mathewson, Chief Executive of a Glasgow distillery. It seems as if every person Warren interviews has a motive for the murder.

The narration of this Audible audiobook version of ‘A Measure of Trouble’, provided by George Ellington, is excellent. Ellington speaks with just enough Scottish brogue to be authentic, but not so much that it’s impossible to follow the story.

Of course, I wasn’t as clever as Warren. I wasn’t able to identify the murderer before he did.

Now that I’ve listened to this Alex Warren Murder Mystery series audiobook , I look forward to listening to many more.
