About this listen

With Boyd starting his phased return to the CID department, DS Samantha Okeke is once again in the driving seat.

So when Okeke takes a call from a child psychiatrist about one of his patients, a troubled thirteen year old girl, it's a race against time to find out whether the monster is real or imagined.

Little does she know that her story is going to lead her down a rabbit hole that will bring a monster right to her front door.

Excellent! Hope we don't have to wait too long for the next one! Want to see what happens with Sam & Jay. I'm pretty heartbroken atm!

Wow!

Like some others have written - we missed a whole chapter which was at the end of the book in the middle of the conflict. I still don’t know how Okeke got out of her situation. This really should have been fixed by now. I found the story to be boring, contrived and predictable without the normal interactions of the team. I get why Boyd is in the situation he is (not wanting to spoil anything) and it is the writers prerogative to write his characters how he sees fit however it really has hurt the series. With Boyd mostly out of the last two books maybe they should be called DS Okeke Crime Series. Or Hastings CID. I do like Okeke she is a strong character with a lot of dimension however I miss the team dynamic and character development that has been missing in the last three books. Having said that I do feel for Mr. Scarrow. I imagine writing while going through his medical issues has not been easy and I wish him a complete recovery.

Worst one of the series
