About this listen

Two quotes define American hero Davy Crockett: "First make sure you're right, then go ahead." And "You can go to hell; I'm going to Texas."

Davy Crockett was born on a mountaintop in Tennessee (1786). He was a rugged frontiersman who befriended the Indians and helped keep the peace between them and the settlers. He was elected to Congress and, after losing a reelection bid, died a courageous death at The Alamo (1836). He was, and continues to be, a legendary American hero. This is his story in his own words.

Great story ruined by narrator

I couldn't finish this recording. The narrator drove me crazy. It was as if he forgot the beginning of each sentence by the time he gets to the end.
I wish I could get my credit back to download a different recording of the same book.

Great story! Only a few issues...

The narrator could have been better, his voice was a bit boring? The story was great to! I highly recommend this book as a great read for any student looking to know more about it history and Davy Crockett.

Absolutely Great!

Couple of slow spots but if the adventures of taming the frontier don’t grab you, his humor, his resilience, his amazing attitude in adversity, and his character and integrity (See it through to the end!) should. Enjoy!

Awkward Reader

The book is read by a robot (a poor representation of a reader at least!) This is very difficult to listen to and understand. It is a shame.. it is such a cool story to read.
