About this listen

Another powerful story in the Logan Family Saga and companion to Mildred D. Taylor's Newbery Award-winning Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

With the depression bearing down on her family, there isn't much that Cassie Logan can count on anymore.

But there is one thing that hasn't changed - the whispering trees outside her window. Cassie's trees, which have stood for centuries, are a great source of comfort to her. But they are also worth a lot of money. With Cassie's daddy gone to lay tracks for the railroad, it seems like no one can stop Mr. Andersen from forcing Big Ma to sell their valuable trees. How can Cassie sit by and watch them disappear? The beloved heroine of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry enchants us again in this story of strength and pride.

I always enjoy Taylor's work

Following the Logan family adventures is always satisfying. It never gets old. Cassie, little Man, Christopher John and Stacy are always getting into something. this one is interesting because the ending leaves your mouth open.

Love this little book

The Logan family saga is such a good series this book that I just listen to was only 39 minutes but was well worth the listening experience.

I've always loved this story!

I remember reading this story for the first time when I was in elementary school. I own the book series, which I've had since middle school. I'm in my early forties now and it's still great. My kids have loved the books also, although not as much as I. Still this series has place in my heart and always will. It was so nice to hear it on audio. The narrator is tolerable although not believable. There is no southern accent, but the story compensates for the lack. I would still suggest this book to read and on audio.

Mildred D Taylor is one of my favorite authors.
Everything she writes, I enjoy. This story is short and sweet.

Beautiful show of brooking no refusal!

Beautiful show of Brooking no refusal, standing your ground, perseverance, taking a stand & standing firm. Cassis has David & Hammer’s spirit. Loved it wish it was longer.

Disappointed

I listened to this right after Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry (which is wonderful) and was very disappointed with the narration. Why is a white woman narrating this book? I am a white woman myself, and in my opinion the choice of narrator made this story feel completely inauthentic. It's hard to make an honest judgment about the story itself because the listening experience was such a let down.
