About this listen

Something is terrorizing the villages of the county. People are dying - covered in blood, their faces frozen in fear. But with not a wound on their bodies.

Battling creatures of the dark is the job of the local spook, but 17-year-old Thomas Ward never finished his apprenticeship. It will be no easy task to earn the trust of the villagers and to defeat a monster that no one has ever seen.

Yet Jenny - a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter - knows an awful lot about this new evil. And she's willing to share what she's learned with Tom…if he takes her on as his apprentice. No girl has ever been a spook's apprentice before. But vanquishing this creature will take Tom and Jenny far from home. And that's exactly what Jenny wants.

This new arc in the legend of Thomas Ward, the hero of the best-selling The Last Apprentice series, begins a dark and sweeping adventure that will chill your very soul.

Took a little while to get used to the new narrator. Thomas Judd did great but after a whom series by Christopher Evan Welch it was strange. As for the book, its another Delaney masterpiece. I can not wait for the next book to come out.

A change of pace

The narrator in this is good. So don't you DARE keep changing him like wardstone!

Good narrator. KEEP HIM!

Amazing performance and good story. The continuation of Tom ward’s journey as a spook. Only frustrating thing was the inconsistencies of what characters were capable of in the last apprentice series. But, I suppose there wouldn’t be much suspense if the main character got stronger and not weaker as the enemies would not pose as much of a threat. Overall a captivating read, but, not quite as what I thought Tom would develop. Now suddenly, he doesn’t use any of his gifts. There seems to be a determination to keep the enemy as op as possible.

A must read but frustrating

I found the narration to be pretty good but the plot to be a bit lacking

An enjoyable listen

this is the most vague book of the entire series. We didn't even get a play by play of the hour long battle? I enjoyed the different character perspectives as always. typically we get more of a climax with some sort of an ending. I'm still a fan though. thank you for the books

Awesome book, good story and great narrators. Lots of engaging moments and there are no parts that are dull or boring that could make you fall asleep...

Great book!

There was no lead up for the ending, seemed very forced. I think the author was tired of writing stories for Tom.

hated the ending
