About this listen

Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself.

That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth.

Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet.

War has raged ever since.

None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous. He mostly kept to himself. He was the weird guy who owned a cabin and who occasionally came into town for a drink and light conversation. After System Integration, that didn’t change much—he only got stronger.

After years of fighting monsters and Invaders alone, he’s become quite adept at surviving. Who needs others to get in the way or worry about?

Until one day, Derek goes against his better judgement. He decides to lend some help on a mission that doesn’t seem too hard.... He should have stuck to being alone....

Don’t miss the start of this new LitRPG series starting on Earth a few years post System Integration. But the adventure doesn’t stop there. This overpowered protagonist will quickly find himself on a new world, with a new System, providing a unique combination of the isekai, LitRPG apocalypse, and slice-of-life genres. He may even make a few friends along the way.

hidden gem

great story, love the op mc. love how the plot, good book. I have 400 litrpg books in my library and I'm pretty picky, never leave reviews but this book deserves one.

Perfectly fine

It’s a very okay story with an okay narrator. It does all the isekai and litrpg tropes without being cringe. There’s just nothing original to it. It’s a good filler book for while you wait for your main series to come back

I loved the story!

Story was great! The performance was ok, but in early sections sounded like an old Kung fu movie. Overall i liked the presentation.

I liked it

It starts off as one would imagine a second book. Nice change of pace to skip all the world breaking chapters on how statpoints work endlessly.

There were a few boring parts but they never last long. It did feel like there were a lot of different branches the book could go in the future and I feel as if the author should have focused more on a single direction. I am still excited to see where the next book goes.

Decent Book

The MC has a brain Yay! Unlike most books whose MC's act like they are in a B-rated horror film and are dumb as a white women seeing abandoned cabin in the middle of a death forest. I also really like that we went the whole book and not one person fell in love. There was no slog of 3/4 book on how they met thier soul mate after a day. That right there deserves 4 stars.

The story is interesting, and not an obvious rip off of another book. They didnt use the stats to fill the book either unlike most whose MC acts like an insecure twit that needs validation every 10 seconds.

The narrator is great.

Good Job to the author and narrator.

so far so good

good so far, all his choices make sense and are properly explained.

mc doesn't keep everything to himself and trust no one, but mc also doesn't give his life story to everyone with an ear.

this author has done a good job of street smart mc so far.

Pretty good

One of the best listens of the year. I wouldn't rate it as perfect but I also can't find anything to critique.

The narrator did an awsome job bringing the story to life.
I enjoyed listening and sometimes didn't even sleep wanting to know what happened next. The amount of detail is mind blowing.

terrible start

ok so the set up for the story makes sense, but it's execution is terrible. but once the intro hump comes to an end it gets better by a large magnitude.

It's great, give this a try

I don't understand where all the hate is coming from. This series a very good story and it still has plenty of character progression and development. Yes, the MC is OP but that's the point. Go read any Isekai manwha and this is the type of story you'll find. It's not for everyone, sure, but that doesn't mean that this is a bad book.

Derek is a jackass, or at least, I thought he was. I was ready to not like him and thought, "Here we go, another freaking Jason Asano. Okay, let's hear your thoughts about politics and Nietzsche." But no, Derek is pretty simple: Don't screw with him and he won't murder you. Which is great! If people pissed him off, he killed them. It's refreshing to see a character not have to go through a character arc about them becoming a monster and what their family will think and how it's changing them foundationally. Derek's character development is pretty slow, but by the end of the book, he builds attachments toward the village and the people there. He learns he doesn't have to go at it alone and having friends does help. He doesn't ever have to be careful cause his power affords him that freedom. It's a good loner to leader type story.

The narrator isn't bad, but for some reason he was irking me, and I finally figured out why. When he talks, he sounds like the announcer guy who says, "In a world where...." line. He has that downward drawl that makes it sound like that ALL THE TIME. It can get annoying, but for some reason, it's only for Derek's character. So it wasn't too bad.
