About this listen

The seventh installment in the popular Carrera military science-fiction series.

Carrera's held off his enemies coming by sea from the north, in the process dealing the naval and amphibious forces of the Zhong Empire a stinging defeat. The Zhong won't soon forget the blood-stained waters and the heaped-up bodies on the shores of Balboa's Isla Real.

Now, though, his adopted country of Balboa is under assault from the east, from the south, from the west, from the air, and from space. The Zhong, smarting from the butchery around the island, have bounced back and forced a lodgment east of the capital. Their lodgment is still abuilding, but when it is done, Carrera can expect several hundred thousand brave and determined Zhong to show up on his barely defended flank.

The Taurans, remembering their military roots, have assaulted Balboa from the south, taking half the area of and cutting the Transitway that joins Terra Nova's Mar Fusioso and her Shimmering Sea. In the process, they've cut off and besieged the second city of the country, Cristobal, trapping inside the city Carrera's Fourth Corps and overrunning and capturing a large portion of Carrera's artillery train.

West of Cristobal, the Taurans have created, almost from scratch, a series of small ports and airfields to support their siege. Inside the town, a sense of desperation is growing among the men and women of the Fourth Corps: Has their leader forgotten about or abandoned them?

Meanwhile, another Tauran Expeditionary force secures Balboa's eastern neighbor, Santa Josefina, as a base against them. In space, the United Earth Peace Fleet, under the command of High Admiral Marguerite Wallenstein, keeps as low a profile as possible, all the time spying and feeding intelligence to both Zhong and Tauran.

It's beginning to look like the game is up for Balboa and Patricio Carrera. But Carrera's been planning this war for 15 years. He certainly hopes his enemies think they're winning.

A Lesson in Liberalism

if anyone wants to know where progressivism is heading, and some of the routes that they will take to impose it upon us, the action-filled sci-fi adventure/war stories in this series is a great primer.

And if, having read and taken seriously Kratman's warnings, the reader wonders what can be done to save ourselves from such a seemingly inevitable fate, the books give some guidance on what may be necessary in order to stop the scourge of liberal intersectionality.

Lest anyone think, based on the above, that the stories are dry and unexciting, I can most vehemently declare that they are not!

its a satify read,

i really like this series, its getting slightly formulaic but still has a great story line, satisfying denounment and leaving yoy on a multitude of incomplete story lines making a nother book almost maditory.

Awesome details !

If you have knowledge of combined arms warfare you will not be disappointed . It’s difficult to depict the different and fascinating pieces that have to go in exactly the right sequence at exactly the correct moment in time . Yet explain the necessary sacrifices required by the personal in a deception in order to win .Then suddenly come to a halt At ONE COMMAND ! Tom Kratman is a Master !

Finnish the story

I love this series, I was a bit pissed that Tom hadn't completed it. then I checked his website and found out that he was a few months younger than I. I would like to have it completed but hell I'm retired. I don't like working anymore.

great reading

James Fouhey gives a master class on foreign language pronunciation, and reads off military lingo CORRECTLY (for the most part), which most narrators DO NOT. The story is wide ranging, so pay attention.

Only 14h 55m.. Why Oh Why!? ;)

So yeah I was hoping for more having waited so long for another dose.
I really truly enjoy this story. Tickled pink is the expression that comes to mind..
Not much more to say really other then that its the continuation of the ongoing war from the previous books.
If those where your thing you will like this one to.

Only sad thing about this the audioversion is the narrators inability to pronounce certain words correctly, along with as far as I can figure his misreading of a few others. I have on the whole not been impressed with James Fouhey's prior narrative performance of this series, his narration of this book does not see him improve any.

Oh yeah @ T. Kratman,

I hope to see another book by you soon.

I have decided to take the fact that this book is only 15 hours long to indicate that another book is soon to follow.

If I Had More Stars I'd Award Em to Col. Kratman

We're getting close to the final hoorah here as Carrara and company respond to the Tauran and Ghong forces. After their bloody repulse from Balboa in the last volume, the author ties up various loose ends and cliff hangers in this one. We still have at least one more to go, and I can't wait to read it. I've been where the bullets fly, but only as an N.C.O., so I have little criticism about the ideas of logistics and tactics. However, this is a rousing good military science fiction story and that's plenty.
Of course, the entire series presents political ideas that many may not be comfortable with. The character development is really good and the story makes good sense. However its vital that you start with book one and go through them in order.
