Publisher's summary

A beached sailboat. A missing man. A distraught woman staggering ashore. There to greet her - Garrison Gage, full-time curmudgeon and part-time private investigator, who quickly finds himself thrust into his familiar role of crusader for the desperate and downtrodden. The woman claims to have no memory, but is she lying?

When a body later washes ashore, the mystery deepens and the stakes ratchet up another notch. Dark money and even darker intentions. Violence both threatened and real. The woman may be at the heart of it all, or merely an innocent interloper who chose the wrong boat at the wrong time. Only Gage can discover the truth.

EXCELLENT.

One of the best in the series. Zoe is maturing and becoming a more responsible person. Garrison faces a very dangerous enemy while solving a very intriguing case and was almost killed. Action packed and there was romance added in the plot as well. Good all round. I do hope there will be more in the series. Scott William Carter is an excellent writer. Well performed by Steven Roy Grimsley

The Best in the Garrison Gage Series

Of all the Garrison Gage stories, this is my favorite. I found the story intriguing, unique and captivating. The characters were believable. The narration was varied and colorful. Loved it.

Scott WIlliam Carter is a painter with words!

When I discovered the first Garrison Gage Mystery, I flew threw all of them in rapid succession only to be disappointed that there weren't more. Before a long trip I took a chance to see if another had been released and was thrilled to see it had been. I've fallen in love with the characters in these stories and relish following their personal evolution.

Scott William Carter is a painter with words. I sometimes have to go back and catch up on the story line because I've gotten caught up in the beautiful images the writing brings to mind.

Garrison Gage's character is so honest and flawed while being heroic and just. He's the guy I'd want at my back in a storm and each of the supporting cast are fully fleshed out human interest stories on their own. Williams leaves no character bare boned and lacking which is why it's so easy to mentally move into Barnacle Bluff and become caught up in their lives.

Being a figurerer-outer - often knowing who-dun-it before I'm half way through a book - makes it hard to soldier on and finish the story. Nothing obvious in this series. I'm left wondering till the compelling end.

The narrator, Steven Roy Grimsley, is PERFECT! He's consistent through the series and brings each story to life. It would be hard to imagine a different narrator doing Garrison Gage at this point. He IS the voice of Garrison Gage.

As long as you keep writing these, I can promise I'll keep reading them! Thank you Scott William Carter!

We like Garrison Gage. Characters show growth, as they should, since years go by. Looking forward to the next adventure.

pretty good story

This was my third read in this series, but not my favorite. The narration was a little forced, but maybe I just heard it playing out in my head differently than the narrator. Anyway, I found it distracting and maybe that's why the story seemed a bit trite to me. I'll try another in the series anyway because I do like the characters.
