About this listen

A beautiful piece of literature by a great saint of the church. St. John of the Cross was a man in search of Christ, a true follower of the ways of God. By only simple observation, it seems that his entire life was swallowed up in the glory and majesty of God, and we have the great privilege of peering into that relationship through his written works. This is a book describing the search of a lovesick soul for her wonderful bridegroom. A truly remarkable spring for anyone desiring a deeper life with God. May you be blessed as you listen to this book!

Spiritual nonsense

Everything is all or nothing. Outside of perfect union with God, all necessary functions of life (eating or sleeping for example) are depraved and useless in comparison with That union. I don’t know what state of life he is talking about but this is ludicrous when applied to my state of life. St John elevates the spiritual marriage so high, admitting that only God can take us there, while dishonoring and criticizing human existence (emotions, will, desires, etc) as useless. That is irresponsible black and white thinking.
