About this listen

The second in a charming new cozy series from Elizabeth Penney, set in an English bookshop and following Molly Kimball, who has a habit of bookmarking trouble . . .

Lately, Molly has been feeling that she might have fallen into a fairy tale: she's reinvigorated the family bookshop Thomas Marlowe—Manuscripts and Folios, made friends in her new home of Cambridge, England, and is even developing a bit of a romance with Kieran—a bike shop owner with a somewhat intimidating family pedigree.

Having recently discovered The Strawberry Girls, a classic children's tale, Molly is thrilled to learn the author, Iona York, lives nearby. But while visiting the famous author at her lovely cottage in nearby Hazelhurst, an old acquaintance of Iona's tumbles off her roof to his death.

Then, when one of Iona's daughters—an inspiration for the original Strawberry Girls—goes missing, Molly begins to worry this story might be more Brothers Grimm than happily-ever-after. Especially after Molly learns about the mysterious long-ago death of Iona's husband and coauthor of The Strawberry Girls . . . could past and present crimes be linked? Molly must put the clues together before someone turns this sweet tale sour.

Loved This Book

This series was a delightful discovery, and the second book was even more engaging than the first. What's not to like about a setting in the oldest bookstore in Cambridge, intelligent and likable characters of several generations, a solid mystery or three, even a castle and manor home, here and there, and a touch of romance without the angst. This book had the added touch of a wonderful children's book that was relevant to and read throughout the story. I highly recommend this book to cozy mystery lovers and can not wait for the next release.

Long kids book

Another great installment! This one had a lot of characters so it was a tad bit harder to follow. Also it seems like Molly is never in the store working. And The Strawberry Girls was not a kids book! It was so long LOL. No parent is reading that book to their kids. Maybe read over a few nights or if they could read it to themselves. Overall a good cozy mystery. Also love Kieran and love him and Molly together.

Not her best work...

I made it through...nearly gave up quite a few times. I was confused most of the time, I found the narrative and storyline hard to follow. I had to listen through it twice...could have been a better listen with another narration.
