Publisher's summary

Glory, adventure, and riches wait just over the horizon…but beware, for there be dragons!

With her commission in her coat and a well-found deck beneath her feet, Catherine Cook, granddaughter of the great explorer, prepares to set sail. With her new frigate and her master and commander’s warrant, Kate is ready to begin her career in the Royal Navy…

Yet as every sailor knows, not all seas run smoothly.

As Kate and her crew set out to defend British and American shipping from French and Spanish marauders, the young, improbable captain is sailing straight into deadly peril. For her old nemesis, Pierre Meraux, survived their last encounter and is out for vengeance.

With a powerful Spanish frigate under his command, Meraux wages a personal war of avarice and murder across the Caribbean. Now, with ill-gotten riches at his command, Meraux sets his sights on the one thing that has robbed him of many a night’s sleep…his lust for deadly retribution on the 18-year-old girl who stole his ship, his prize, and his honor!

Deadly storms, thundering battles, and personal combat mark this exciting second novel in the Catherine Cook Age of Sail adventure series. Can the young captain defeat the French privateer a second time? Or will his lusts consume them both?

It takes me back to high adventure

I really felt like I was back in the Napoleonic sailing era - in the World of Nelson, Hornblower and Aubrey! This unique take on a popular theme, with a fierce young woman captain is really interesting and adds a fresh new perspective. Humor, action and intrigue reminiscent of O'Brian and Lambdin.

Philip Battley does an outstanding job of bringing this world to life. I highly recommend this book.

Well Written and Entertaining

This was as good or better than the first book in the series. I am a huge fan of these novels, and I can't wait for the next book of the series to be published.
