About this listen

The Unites States and China vie for supremacy in the international marketplace as China seeks to become the global leader. A pandemic sweeping across the world send the markets spiraling into chaos, increasing the tension between the two superpowers. Armed conflict needs only a spark. Will China’s attempt to expand their territories into the South China Sea be the trigger that plunges the two mighty nations past the rhetoric and into a shooting war?

I listened to the whole book, but misses having a central character to follow along with. and since we're still post pandemic I felt it was a little too soon for the book to delve into it (although I did enjoy those insights as to how the pandemic began). I was going to try the next book in the series, but from reading reviews it sounds much the same as this one with no main character, news reports adjusted on both sides, and general military conflict...

Too soon!

Great take on potential war with Chinese. Not too much tech overload and decent character development. Great listen and can’t wait for book 2 to come out. Narration was very good.

The Future Conflict “what if” scenario.

I have to say I’m really surprised more people have not reviewed this book.
I thought that it was very relevant to the world today.
If your on the fence about trying this book, don’t be. It’s well worth the credit.
Well done John, I’m really looking forward to the next book.

with what is currently going on in the world, John o'Brien must see into the future. lots of military speak but I actually understood it. Will be getting the next book shortly. great read!

Story is engaging and pretty good. The reader does a reasonable job except he doesn't realize that LCDR should be read lieutenant commander and LTJG should be lieutenant JG (or junior grade) so he literally read "LCDR".

Not that big a deal but it just grates each time.

To reader: learn the terms used in the book.

The story definitely made me feel like I wanted more as it progressed in the narrative that the author shared

Once again John O’Brien has written a wonderful and riveting story. This one is of a different genre than I have read from him before.
His combination of technical detail and storyline work well together to make a compelling first book of what I hope will be a series.

Another great work John O’Brien
