About this listen
Unravel the complex relationship between finances and life well-being
In A Wealth of Well-Being: A Holistic Approach to Behavioral Finance, Professor Meir Statman, established thought leader in behavioral finance, explores how life well-being, the overarching aim of individuals in the third generation of behavioral finance, is underpinned by financial well-being, and how life well-being extends beyond financial well-being to family, friendship, religion, health, work, and education.
Combining recent scientific findings by scholars in finance, economics, law, medicine, psychology, and sociology with real-life stories at the intersection of finances and life, this book allows listeners to clearly see how finances are intertwined with life well-being. In this book, listeners will learn:
- How dating, marriage, widowhood, and divorce are all affected by finances and affect them
- Why the relationship between parents, grandparents, children, and friends changes as finances fluctuate
- How finances affect choices of education, such as colleges, and how these choices vary across different cultures around the world

Add to these behavioral errors such economic factors as deflation, sudden stock declines, and soaring inflation—and investing can seem like something to be avoided at all costs.

Story
A diverse and growing range of financial institutions and platforms—from PayPal and Venmo to WeChat, Alipay, and the brave new world of stablecoins—has harnessed new technology to disrupt the system of money and payments as we know it. Beyond Banks explains why this disruption holds out the promise of faster, cheaper, more convenient, and more secure payments, but also how it increasingly risks exposing consumers, businesses, and governments to the problem of bad money.

Yet prosperity has come at a price: environmental destruction, desolation of local cultures, the rise of vast inequalities, and destabilizing technologies. Faced with such damage, many now claim that the only way forward is through "degrowth," deliberately shrinking our economic footprint. Instead, Daniel Susskind argues, we must keep growth but redirect it, making it better reflect what we truly value.

Great insight and review of well-being in the modern age
Meir Statman does great in giving insight and reviewing the key points that affect well-being in individuals living in today's society, and how they may have changed from the past. I feel the book touches on the human action of individuals and how we each individually strive for different things to embrace the feeling of well-being. Very well written and highly recommended to anyone looking to dive into the psychology of not only financial well-being, but life well-being as a whole.
