About this listen

A trained killer. One kill list. A world of hurt.

In this novel, author Frances Paul introduces a complex and driven young lady determined to uncover the truth surrounding the murders of her parents and to bring to justice the people responsible for the cruel act.

Karina Navarre, a Cuban national, lived a life that would be described as anything but easy. After witnessing the brutal murder of her parents, Karina’s life spiraled out of control, until a former KGB officer agreed to take her under his wing and train her.

Eight years later, the girl who has been discarded and forgotten is introduced to the underworld - resilient and ready to take her life back. But when tragedy strikes again, Karina turns into a force to be reckoned with, a woman out for revenge.

Fueled by her grief, Karina sets off on a breathtaking journey of twists and turns, fighting in a world where women are deemed inferior. But she’s determined to avenge the deaths of those she lost, even if that means risking everything including her own life in the process. Karina Navarre has a list, and she’s crossing off names...one by bloody one.

Thrilling, unpredictable, fast-paced, and powered by a grieved widow’s inexorable sense of duty.

Loved it

Never a dull moment and you don't see the ending coming. You will need to increase the speed because it's read slowly. The narrator did a good job with the accents.

Karina Navarre is one BAD A** WOMAN!!!!

The story:

The author was absolutely correct when she said Karina is "a force to be reckoned with". This book isn't at all for the squeamish or faint of heart. Karina had one goal and that was to avenge her mother and father. However, as luck would have it, she found love in the process. Will she have what it takes to avenge her parents as she vowed to do or will she succumb to true love? Yes, I'd love to give you the answer but I'd hate for you to miss out on all the cold and calculating action oozing in this book. Grab your copy and enjoy!

The narration:

I gave the narrator only one star for her efforts because that was the worst narrating I've had the unfortunate pleasure of hearing. I only painstakingly endured because I honestly enjoyed the story itself. The narrator sounded as if she had something in her mouth preventing her from speaking clearly and she did a horrible job of bringing the characters to life. For the bad a** that Karina was, the narrator made her sound lame. I wish the author had chosen someone else to narrate because this was truly a gem of a novel that painted a woman in such a strong and commanding light. The authored owed it to her work and her listeners to bring this title alive with a good narrator but sadly, she failed.
