About this listen

Kyle Houseman believes that he'll never find anyone he could love as much as Olivia Arnold, who's now married to his stepbrother. Not only did he lose her, he's been through one divorce and has no desire to go through another. He's determined to be extra careful about the next woman he gets involved with - which is why he fights his attraction to the beautiful stranger who rents his farmhouse for the Christmas holiday.

Lourdes Bennett is a country music artist. She's only planning to stay in Whiskey Creek long enough to write the songs for her next album - the album that's going to put her back on top. Her dreams don't include settling in a town even smaller than the one she escaped. But as she comes to know Kyle, she begins to wonder if she'd be making a terrible mistake to leave him behind....

This book finally gave Kyle peace and love. I love Brenda Novak. Now it is Baxter's turn

Loved this story. The narrator was the best I've listened to on Audible.

Another winner by Brenda Novak

This was a great series. The one thing that would have made it even better been if you had continued with Amy Rubinate as the narrator--why do they change? MM was good also, but I just love AR. This was my second favorite of the entire series, When Lighting Strikes being my favorite. I have listened to WLS many, many times. Winter Wedding next.

I hate to see the series end.

A Winter Wedding (Whiskey Creek, #9) was a great read by Brenda Novak. Kyle still hasn’t gotten over his love for his sister in law Olivia, even though she’s now married to his stepbrother. He also has been through a divorce that has led to him not wanting another one. Lourdes is a country music artist who comes to Whiskey Creek to write songs for her next album. She moves into Kyle’s farmhouse for some privacy. They both fight their attraction because they want different things for life. I really enjoyed Kyle and Lourdes’ story and can’t wait to read more by Brenda Novak.

Great Read

Would you consider the audio edition of A Winter Wedding to be better than the print version?

I think that the Audible edition enhanced the reading of the novel.

What did you like best about this story?

I like when Kyle finally had enough.

What about Monique Makena’s performance did you like?

She was able to vacillate effectively between characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

At least in 2 sittings!

Any additional comments?

Brenda Novak is a great writer.

I loved this series and hate for it to end. I feel as though I got to know the characters and town very well. I love Brenda Novak and her style of writing and telling her stories. Now I am off to find her next series to get enthralled in ;-)

Great!

I loved it! It had suspense, a villan, struggle and a love story. Very well written and the performance was good. I hope to read more novels by Brenda Novak.

Great Story Line

I loved the book in general, but every time ms Monique Makena mispronounced names it cost me a layer of tooth enamel, and her points against a five star review.
•1). Renate is a German proper name. It is NOT pronounced Re-Nate This app doesn’t allow me to use proper pronunciation symbols, so I’ll try to get the sounds across using the regular English alphabet. Ra-nah-taa comes pretty close yet still lacks — unless you can go find out using your pronouncing dictionary.
•2). Lourdes in also misprounced. It is a French word naming a city in SW France, and a Roman Catholic shrine famed for miraculous cures. It is pronounced Lourd in French, with the es being silent. That one should be on Brenda Novak for picking a name that really doesn’t fit her story.
I’m not going to spend any brain cells on things that don’t match from one story to the next in her Whisky Creek series, which for the most part has been enjoyable enough to merit re-listens for two of the better stories.
Note one – Find a good story continuity editor!
Note two – I HATE the usage of terms like “hard Length” versus reality in calling it out true — an “erection” or normal nicknames almost everyone uses, such as “hard-on.”
Hard Length — blech!!!
