'Brimming with warmth, humour and a love of life… a wonderful escapade’ Fiona Gibson

Never say never to falling in love…

Val didn’t expect to be starting again in her seventies, but when life gives her lemons, Val is determined to make lemonade.

Settled into her new home – a picture-perfect fisherman’s cottage in the small Cornish seaside town of Lowenstowe – Val is ready to start a new chapter. And with her son due to get married next Christmas, there’s also the little job of finding herself a plus-one to help her face her ex-husband and his new girlfriend.

With the support of her neighbour Connie, and after decades of married life, Val takes the plunge back into the world of dating with trepidation and excitement. But can she remember how the single life works, let alone what her type is? There seem to be plenty of Mr Maybes, but no sign of Mr Right.

As the year passes, and as friendships and community life flourish, Val begins to blossom. And as Christmas approach, she might just decide she doesn’t need that plus-one after all - although never say never...

Judy Leigh is back with her trademark promise of laughter, love and friendship. The perfect feel-good novel for all fans of Dawn French, Dee Macdonald and Cathy Hopkins.

Ah love and self discovery for the 50+ plus crowd

I love this author. Her books brim with adventure, love, self discovery, optimism and a dose of reality that speaks if the truth of aging and the look for partnership. Her books are a soft fun read that always leave me laughing and content. Give them a try.

Never disappointed with this author and narrator!

I've read all of Judy Leigh's books and have bought the audibles. I love her character development , I find myself wishing I was one of the main character's friends. This book was one of my favorites. If you get a chance to listen and read you will be thoroughly entertained. Judy can definitely write about mature women without being mushy and romantiic. Each of her characters are in different stages of growth, I love watching them become who they really are deep within. Judy, get busy on your next novel, your fans are waiting.

This was ok

I enjoyed it there were times where it was hard to understand the words. I was totally floored how fast Val got a partner

Cute story

This is a cute story about a woman learning to be herself, on her own. It’s a good story to watch unfold, as it’s comfortable and low-stress. This isn’t a surprise-at-every-turn kind of book, but with interesting enough details to keep you going.

No. Just…..no.

Very weak story, characters about whom I couldn’t work up a good “meh”, and while I absolutely love Phyllida Nash’s narration of anything by Georgette Heyer, in my opinion her voice is not well-suited to these characters. I highly recommend “The Old Girls Network”, however, and will give Judy Leigh another try.
