About this listen

Matt is missing. Bonnie's six-year-old brother left his classroom to use the bathroom - and disappeared. A police dog traces his scent to the curb, where he apparently got into a vehicle. But why would Matt go anywhere with a stranger? Overwhelmed with fear, Bonnie discovers that her dog is gone, too. Was Pookie used as a lure for Matt?

Bonnie makes one big mistake in her attempt to find her brother. In a chilling climax on a Washington State ferry, Bonnie and Matt must outsmart their abductor or pay with their lives.

Nothing super unique or exciting. The story is predictable at times. The narrator does a great job giving it life.

The narrator was awful, but the story was good. There was so many times I wanted to stop listening because the narrator sounded like a robot, but the story kept me interested

Great story poor narrator

Although some reviews have said that they thought this a children's book, I totally disagree. What these children have been through would probably give them nightmares for years and is a mother's worse fear.
Now that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The kids are great (no spoilers.) There are bad people out there, this book shows just one and a lot of really good folks too.

Not a children's book!

Enjoyed from start to finish. Makes one want to be more perceptive of people around them and learn to be helpful.

We need one another.

Realistic and spellbinding

This is a good story about a little 6 year old boy, Matt, who gets kidnapped by someone who uses Matt's own dog as a way to gain trust. It's an example of how adults can manipulate children in situations, especially when they are younger. I enjoyed the characters and story line. It's a good thing Matt had Bonnie as his sister.

Good story with a great ending

Another great book from Kehret. The young girl is so clever and resourceful, and the boy is no slouch. Yes, what they seemed to be able to deduce was not reasonable for their ages, this is the kind of book kids need to build their confidence in themselves and their ability to be critical thinkers. I wholeheartedly recommend this. (FYI I’m 52)

The performer was a fit for this story though she would not be a fit for a story told solely from an adult’s point of view.

Kehret always comes through
