About this listen
Sixteen-year-old Faith has worked full-time in her parents' restaurant since she finished eighth grade. She loves her Amish community - and the romantic attentions of her longtime friend, Gideon. When her sister seems to be getting too friendly with Englischers, and her parents are in a buggy accident, Faith wants to escape into her dream of joining the church and getting married.
But then a local newspaper runs a story about a child named Adriana who was kidnapped 15 years earlier, and everything Faith has held true comes into question. Suddenly the community Faith has known her whole life seems unreal. Can she even trust her own family? And how will she ever find home again if she no longer belongs in the world she knows best?

Story
What would cause the Amish to move to Colorado, leaving family and friends behind? Some Amish are making the trek for cheaper land. Others are fleeing strict bishops with long memories. For Emily Detweiler and her family, the move is more personal. Tragedy struck Emily in Ohio, shaking loose everything she believed was firm, including her faith. Her family took the bold step of leaving Ohio to resettle in a small Amish community in Canaan, Colorado, where they hope the distance will help erase painful memories.

For Emily Detweiler and her family, the move is more personal. Tragedy struck Emily in Ohio, shaking loose everything she believed was firm, including her faith. Book 1 for the price; book 2 because I LOVE it!!
Not sure why, but sometimes I equate amish books with boring, outdated and a bit too old fashioned. But, I want to listen to books that are inspiring, uplifting, and wholesome, so thought I'd give this a try. I bought book 1 because the price was so low, thinking it would be mediocre at best. Surprisingly, I love it! Saving my credit for book two. This is well written and the narration is great. So nice to listen to something that keeps my attention and is also wholesome.

Good story
The story line is good... However, the narrator is a little mechanical in her reading. It would have been nice to know what happened to the kidnappers.

A little predictable!! But still a good story!!!
This story is a little long winded before it gets to the good stuff. I was disappointed that I could predict the major happenings in this story. If you are not the type that is good at predicting stories then this is the story for you. The narration was very enjoyable. Overall this story was pretty good. Not disappointed I purchased this book.
