Publisher's summary

Mirren Kincaid remembers the vampire he used to be - and he’s not going back. As the Slayer, Mirren served the Vampire Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner. Then he refused a kill order and eventually found himself the protector and second-in-command of the peaceful enclave of Penton, Alabama. As civil war threatens to break out in the vampire world over the scarcity of untainted human blood, the Tribunal wants its slayer back - and has sent a beautiful witch to retrieve him.

Descended from a powerful shaman, Glory Cummings is meant to restore Mirren to his bloodthirsty ways as the Tribunal’s assassin. But Glory doesn’t see a killer when she looks at Mirren; she sees a vampire haunted by his past. Though her mission is to turn him into a monster, she hopes her magic touch can heal the man she’s suddenly falling for. But the Tribunal has never looked kindly upon defiance.

Great Series!

Loved this book but wish the vamps would act more vampy. They keep getting caught unaware even though they know what's coming. How can an army sneak up on 55 vampires. The author has populated her story with 55 vampires, but only 4 or 5 have anything to do. How about using the other 50 to guard the town?

I found myself really rooting for Glory - she is an awesome original character. Hope she's given more to do in subsequent books.

Sex scenes are a bit short -- so if your expecting steamy romance, you won't really find it here. I will say that what there is is good, not awkward, and I expect this author will eventually find her way in that department.

Amy McFadden did a good job with voices. Enjoyed her reading very much.

Absolution

Any additional comments?

Another great story carried on from the 1st book in this series. Unfortunately the Narrator, Amy McFadden, was not good. Susannah Sandlin should of used the Narrator in the fist book, Angela Dawe, she was excellent. . A great story line once again but ruined by the narrator. Please go back to Angela for the 3rd book.

The series is getting better and better!

I'm finding that I'm identifying a lot with the characters. the narrator is not my favorite but she does a good job. This is definitely a serious to take the time to read and or listen to. I like that I can use the Kindle unlimited and listen for free on my audible account.

Absolution is amazing!

Where does Absolution rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best Audiobooks I've listened to in a while. Amy McFadden did a wonderful job in the narration and really brought out the feelings and emotions of the characters in the story.

What other book might you compare Absolution to and why?

I first read Redemption and fell in love with the people if Penton. The Story line is amazing and keeps you deep into the story through the whole book. Strong Characters in each book that makes you want to hear more about them. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens for the people of Penton.

Finally! Serious Improvement

I am so glad that Susannah stepped up the story telling with Mirren Kincaid's story. He is truly masculine, tough as nails, yet tender. I don't know exactly how I feel about Glory's character. For the most part, I found her annoying due to that awful narration and supposedly southern drawl. While I thought she was a little sweet, I just couldn't look past this narrator.

Ok so lets get back to the narration. All of the guys sounded awful like female children. Will sounded like a whiny brat and Aiden's voice just made him sound even weaker than he appears to be from the story. And Randa's voice is cringe worthy. Amy tried and failed with that whole southern accent. My goodness, I wish they would just tell her the truth!!!!! I have not downloaded book 3 but I refuse to if I have to listen to the same narrator. Geesh did they not screen her or what?

Was the story good? Yes. But this narration just about slayed the novel. Sighing....but then again, some people seem to love it. I'm just saying, try to wait until it is more on sale than the price it already is.

Keeps getting better!

I enjoyed the first book, but this one was much better. The excitement in the plot and also the sexual interaction was good. This is a must have if you've started on this series. I'm looking foward to book 3.

Just as good as the first.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Sure. The story was a little predictable but I enjoyed how it was put together. So far I love the Penton series because it isn't complicated. I LOVE Game of Thrones but the Penton books are great for sitting back to just listen and not have to try to keep up.

Would you recommend Absolution to your friends? Why or why not?

I would. Again its a great listen for a day of laying around. Rainy Sunday afternoon stuff. Its a great romance with some action.

What about Amy McFadden’s performance did you like?

I liked not only the way she did the accents but also the vocal "pace" she gave some of the other characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't say I was "moved" but I did like how Mirren was written. He has this damaged hero thing going on that was interesting to look at.

Any additional comments?

If one is looking for a simple but entertaining story for a weekend read, the Penton series is a great pick.

IT'S LIKE QUICKSAND....IT'LL SUCK YOU RIGHT IN

I have just finished listening to this wonderful vampire series which has everything in it and just keeps getting better. It has passion and romance, a mind blowing plot that is filled with surprises and twists, awesome characters that you will love ....... and some you'll hate and an ending that will have you begging for the next book.

Once I started this book I just couldn't stop listening until it's climatic ending and I believe the next book Omega (Will's story) won't be out until next February so my only question now is ........ what can I possibly follow this book with?

Worth a credit? I'm a huge paranormal/romance fan and it ABSOLUTELY hit all my buttons - so that would be a YES.

Definitely a series I will follow

In book 2 of the Penton Legacy, Aidan’s second in command, Mirren Kincaid "the slayer" was captured by Mathias Ludlum, who hoped to force Mirren back to being the tribunals mercenary and/or his personal goon. During this same time, Mathias kidnapped a young Gloriana Cummings, a clerk at a Circle K gas station, because he sensed some special powers he thought he could add to his arsenal for his war against Aiden & the Pentonville Community. When Mathias was unable to break Glori, he locked her in a room with Mirren, a vampire who hadn't been fed in a month. But being a master vampire helped Mirren keep some control around Glori, and when Mirren was rescued he took Glori too.

Thus began Mirren & Glori's journey towards coupledom! A great, though not easy adventure. But it was a helping process for the slayer and the freak. This author has made a seemingly simple & predictable storyline very engaging and fun to read. I couldn’t stop and I loved the that tortured hero struggle that Mirren was going through. He wanted the love, but felt he didn’t desrving of it due to his past as an executioner for hire. I also love Glori’s strength because she was much tougher than Krys. Glori had been battle tested by her family and thus a perfect match for Mirren. I love the various characters and how they were intertwined. I can't wait for book 3.

Again, the narration was spot on and kept me engaged. I like her various character voices. Great job.
