Story
Life was barely manageable after my mom was murdered three years ago. I wasn’t sure what my purpose was anymore. But then on my 21st birthday, I drank a little too much and fell from the roof of my nine-story apartment building. I died. Then...I un-died. Enter Hayden, my really bossy (and hot) guardian angel whose duty is to train me to be the next “Soldier of Light.” I’m pretty sure I’m the wrong person for this job, despite what Hayden thinks. Guess I’m stuck saving the dead.

My name is Quinn MacKenna, and magic doesn’t work on me. When I’m not getting roped into bar brawls in Boston, I’m usually acquiring - stealing is a form of acquisition, you know - dangerous magical artifacts to turn around and sell them to the highest bidders. But I prefer to be paid in favors, not money. Because favors are a hot commodity in the Land of the Fae. Favors are the only currency that will buy the answers I seek: Why magic doesn’t work on me, and who my real father is.

Meet Roger. Skilled with words, languages come easily to him. He instinctively understands how the world works through the power of story. Meet Dodger, his twin. Numbers are her world, her obsession, her everything. All she understands, she does so through the power of math. Roger and Dodger aren’t exactly human, though they don’t realize it. They aren’t exactly gods, either. Not entirely. Not yet. Meet Reed, skilled in the alchemical arts like his progenitor before him. Reed created Dodger and her brother. He’s not their father. Not quite. But he has a plan.

Story
From the pulpy pages of Black Mask Magazine in the 1920s and '30s, through the film noir era of the 1940s, to today, noir fiction has lured many a reader and movie-goer away from the light and into the dark underbelly of society. Names such as Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, and James M. Cain; titles like The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, The Postman Always Rings Twice...these have inhabited our collective consciousness for decades. Humanity, it seems, loves the dark. And within the dark, one figure stands out: that of the femme fatale.

Publisher's summary
Ace Shades wears sunglasses at all times, even at night. He cannot remember the color of his eyes, nor the last time he took his sunglasses off (hence the moniker: “Shades”). His girlfriend’s a piano, his friends aren’t all there, and the world, according to how he sees it, is a dark and unfriendly place.
But things are changing within the detective. Perhaps it’s the case. Perhaps it’s something else. But the closer that he gets to the truth, the more that he can see the cracks within his own existence. And he’s close to discovering the truth hidden long ago, keeping his world held together.
In a small, rural town in Tennessee, self-proclaimed detective Ace Shades investigates a series of ongoing murders, somehow related to his dark, mysterious past—a past so dark and mysterious that even he doesn’t remember any of it. With the help of his colleagues, who are just as unstable, unpredictable, and unreliable as he is, they begin to uncover a conspiracy involving a threat unlike any other before it—or at least any other threat they had faced before, assuming that they had faced any other threat at all.

It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. Story
Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Wait, what? 🙌🏼 (LOVED IT!)
This book is truly one of a kind. It’s part mystery, part drama, part end of the world satire, and definitely a cult followed masterpiece in the making.
Theodore Lee is THE author to look out for. His characters are quirky and unique with a depth to them that gets more layered the further in you go. Humor is prominent in the story and Justin Mills does a great job in bringing the narration to life. So much so that I’d catch myself randomly laughing really loud (to any random stranger’s confusion). I found this book a complete mind bending joy.
Get this book. It’s seriously one of my all time favorites now.
