About this listen

It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national-security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose.

When presidential candidate Josh Alexander's motorcade is ambushed by a group of terrorists, the nation is thrown into turmoil. Two weeks following the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. On the surface, it appears to be the work of al-Qaeda, and soon the FBI and the rest of the government begin scouring the world for jihadists. But then CIA Director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon are presented with classified information so toxic that they consider destroying it altogether, as it contains intelligence pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington.

Enter Mitch Rapp, the one man reckless enough to follow the evidence to its explosive conclusion. His journey takes him through the shadowy world of contract killers, into the darkest corners of the globe, and eventually back to Washington, where the fragile pillars of power are shaken to the core.

I am reading this series in order. The series started slow, but good. Each book gets better and better. This one is very good.

Getting better

I enjoyed every minute of this novel. Even the lag in the action was proper and necessary to the story. Mitch Rapp was at his finest and George Guidall is a great narrator. I would hate to hear this series read by someone else. Great job Vince Flynn.

Another Hit For Mitch!!!

I'm now on my 10th straight Mitch Rapp book and I thought I wanted a break, but after starting something else, I realize I'm missing the MItch Rapp universe. I'm kind of wondering what they're up to in my absence! This one, Act of Treason, had plenty of political intrigue, which is something I particularly like. For the first time I had a tiny thought that it was getting a bit tiresome that the solution to every problem was killing someone, but I got over it. Some of the bad guys don't die, I've learned, and pop up again in a later book!! If you think a loose end hasn't been tied, just wait for a continuation later on. And after I'd concluded that the romantic, sensitive scenes weren't really his forte, I found myself with eyes filling with tears. I don't want to do any spoilers and it was in the previous book, Consent to Kill, but it was a remarkably well done scene and I think has made Consent to Kill the top one for me so far. I've enjoyed them all and time to buy some more credits to get back to Mitch Rapp's world!

Still great!

Flynn's [RIP] best yet. An act of terrorism in D.C. leaves an upcoming election in the air, while things closer to Mitch's personal life make those events look like a cake walk.

Flynn is prophetic in his understanding of radical, Islamic terrorism. This book, written in 2006 is more relevant today (2017)

George Guidall's raspy, deep voice is perfect for Mitch Rapp

Worth a credit.

Warnings: Strong language & violence

Along with the "Consent to Kill," Vince Flynn raised raised the bar with "Act of Treason." I've enjoyed all of the Mitch Rapp series, but "Consent to Kill" was the best, with "Act of Treason" a close second.

Absolutely fantastic

Vince came through once again in this triller that could have been ripped out of the headlines!! All I can say is I would want to make Mitch, his team or Irene mad at me!

Many tout this as one of the best Mitch Rapp books yet but no other Rapp book compares to Memorial Day as a novel to get you thinking about its "believability".

The final third of the book is much better than the first third and if I were not a Mitch Rapp fan, it doubt I would have made it through the first third of the book for a variety of reasons. Could Mitch Rapp go 'AWOL' and someone not find him?

I needed a book for a long trip and this served the purpose and as I hit the final third of the book, I didn't want the trip to end as the story turned and twisted into something that made me think. "Could this happen?"

I recommend the book but it doesn't compare to Memorial Day for its 'ability' to get me thinking, could this happen?

Good book overall - believable? Maybe?

What did you love best about Act of Treason?

The action and the adventure in which we see not only Rapp involved with but also Kennedy. I mean, righteous, poisoning in the the Oval office. So freaking cool

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rapp-he just is so cool with a no BS attitude for politics or stupid things get in the way of taking care of business and making sure America is safe from foreign or domestic enemies

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction except pure enjoyment and not wanting to turn off the audio and listen until the end of the book

Any additional comments?

As always Vince Flynn has taken Mitch for a ride and amazingly Mitch fixes the nation's problems and prevails in the end even though he may not personally get ahead or even come out even, for Mitch its all about America and making sure she's safe and sound and prospering.

Kennedy gets in the action
