About this listen

OLD ENEMIES NEVER DIE

Cuba and the United States are in talks to normalize relations, something the old guard on the Communist-controlled island has vowed to stop - by any means necessary. Zayda de la Guardia, a rogue general in the Cuban security services, has gotten his hands on a nuclear weapon left over from the Cold War. He plans to launch it on Miami, an attack that could kill millions. There’s just one thing standing in his way: Special agent Jericho Quinn and his team have traveled undercover to Cuba to unravel de la Guardia’s plot before it ignites a nuclear holocaust. Thrown into a secret prison, pursued by assassins, and trapped on the tiny island during one of the worst hurricanes of the century, Quinn and his crew must survive a trial by fire to prevent an international confrontation that would make the Cuban Missile Crisis look like a fist fight.

Narrator drops his voice too low to hear

I have listened to all of the Jericho Quinn series. Love the characters and story. Wished for Jay to have narrated this one too. Pete kept dropping his voice and I'd have to go back, raise the volume and listen closely to understand what he said. Very frustrating!

Cuba mission

I liked the story. The narration often trailed off in volume, which I found a little hard to hear at times.

Love Jericho

This was a great book and sound writing. Missed the usual narrators but if a novel is well written I believe anyone can read it.

Historical derivative fiction

An intriguing add-on to the long term implications of the Cuban Missle Crisis. It makes you wonder if...

A good story

Very good continuation of the story. Different in some ways, and the narrator does a great job. If you’re a fan of the series then you will likely like it a lot, as I did. Keep ‘em coming Mr. Cameron!

JQ is Back

Great tale and locale. Jericho has been missed, but has somehow become a bit more vulnerable than I remember. Love the Ronnie and Odessa, and newly discovered family, relationship.Tibbs is amazing as always. Don't wait so long for the next adventure!

Disappointing narration!

I'll cover the narration and the novel separately.

I was expecting either Tim Weiner or Luke Daniels to narrate, but it was Pete Bradbury, who I never heard of, instead. The narration for the first 90 minutes was so horrid that I almost gave up and returned the audio book. I suspect I just became accustomed to the narrator's style but narration while still subpar was acceptable. I will not purchase another Marc Cameron novel with Pete Bradbury narrating.

This is the first new novel in the Jericho Quinn series in more than 2.5 years. I suspect that is because author Marc Cameron has released two outstanding new novels in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series during that period. In his Jericho Quinn series Marc Cameron has done a wonderful job of developing the four major characters. I look forward to each new novel in this espionage series. In ACTIVE MEASURES he continues his excellent writing as he adds a new female character to the three. I hope he repeats with her in future novels. The novel is set almost exclusively set in Cuba where an army officer plans to set of a nuclear bomb left by the Soviet Union after in 1962 in Miami. (The publisher's summary is woefully inadequate in setting up the novel.) The novel itself is outstanding, but should I down rate it due to the disappointing narration? I decided on a small one star down rating.

Audio horrible !!!

The reader on this book is horrible ! The first part of a sentence will be too loud and then you can’t hear the end of the sentence.
What we can hear of the story is good, but stopped listening
