About this listen

As America's first foreign missionary, Adoniram Judson thirsted to see the Good News brought to the shrouded land of Burma. His thirst would be quenched, but at an unimaginable price. Adoniram survived starvation, imprisonment, and torture both on land and at sea only to watch his family, coworkers, and friends succumb to death.

In spite of heartache and depression, Adoniram Judson translated the entire Bible into Burmese. To this day his work remains the only Burmese translation of the Bible available. Adoniram and his first wife Ann were the spark that spread the fire of the Gospel into Burma, and their evident love for the Burmese people is a compelling story of unswerving dedication and sacrifice.

Encouraging & Convicting!

Wow, what an amazing story! In listening, I was often convicted by the manner in which Judson held to a faith in his God even amidst the immense pain of loss in Burma.

That said, I think there was ample room to dive deeper into the emotional/spiritual state of Judson in his time in Burma and in America. This would encourage us as readers in our daily Christian walk as we learn how to hold fast to Christ.

All in all, a wonderful read! Highly recommended!

It was a good and honest story but I would have liked to hear more about the converts not just all the struggles he had

I liked the descriptive words used. I thought the focus was too much on the hardships and not enough on the growing church. But it did show how hard it was to work in Burma as the first missionary!

Really enjoyed it.

Adoniram Judson is my youngest sons name sake. It’s unbelievable the trials and loss of life he had to endure. It makes my problems seem insignificant and trivial. Thankful for his dedication to the mission field.

Well, researched, inspirational account of the life of Judson, America’s first foreign missionary. The book was easy to follow and well dramatized.

A beautiful vessel for God

I have now to ask whether you can consent to part with your daughter early next spring to see her no more in this world?
whether you can consent to her departure and her subjection to the hardships and sufferings of a missionary life?
whether you can consent to her exposure to the dangers of the ocean, to the fatal influence of the southern climate of Burma, To every kind of want and distress, to degradation, insult, persecution and perhaps a violent death?

can you consent to all of that for the sake of Him who left His heavenly home and died for her and for you, for the sake of perishing immortal souls, for the sake of Zion and the glory of God?
